Meet Thierry Nyfeler, a 32-year-old who's anything but ordinary.
Born in Switzerland, Thierry ditched his tech sales gig and set off on a journey to Botswana after the pandemic.
At just 30, he didn't splurge on a fancy car; instead, he bought land near Chobe National Park in Botswana.
Fast forward two years, and Thierry's turned that plot of land into Munga Plains - Yoga safari retreat camp. But Munga Plains is more than just a business; it’s a community-driven effort. Thierry collaborated with locals to bring water, electricity, and more to the area, ensuring the benefits of tourism reach the people who need it most.
Sustainability is at the heart of Munga Plains. Thierry employs locals, promotes eco-friendly practices, and uses sustainable materials. For him, nature is not just a backdrop — it’s a partner to be respected and protected.
I had the chance to visit Munga Plains during its launch, and it’s absolutely stunning:
✨ Personalised retreats combining yoga and safari adventures, tailored to each group’s vibe.
🌿 Off-the-beaten-path safaris in the flooded plains around Chobe National Park, offering a unique and immersive wildlife experience.
🐾 Guided walks that bring you up close with the landscape and wildlife, teaching tracking skills and showcasing creatures from zebras to elephants.
🐆 Intimate wildlife encounters with expert guides—we even spotted leopards on day one!
🏡 A visit to Kavimba Village, where you can experience local life and the special bond between the people and their land.
🔥 Traditional African boma feasts under the stars, complete with storytelling and dancing around a roaring fire.
Thierry's story isn't just about him—it's about the power of community and dreaming big. Munga Plains isn't just a place to stay; it's a testament to what happens when people come together to make something incredible. 🌟
Dates coming out soon for a 2025 Nourish Travel Munga Plains Retreat.
