Blessed to see the beautiful Grand Canyon lit up with nature’s floodlights!

Coupled with the rain from the previous day the early morning fog dissipated and a brilliant burst of sunlight flashed into the Grand Canyon illuminating the dripping water and beautiful canyon walls.

Walking amongst the rocky giants of the fringes of the incredible Capertee Valley. There’s an endless playground of pagodas and mesas to delve into in the beautiful Mugii Murum-ban area.

The majestic sight of a black cockatoo taking flight! Today’s adventure out brought me past a flock of yellow-tailed black cockatoos along Sydney Harbour. I wasn’t prepared for a shot so I watched them dance about in the air. Here’s one from a few months back to make up for it!

The exhilarating moment this humpback breached the waters!

Headed out onto the waters with to try and catch a glimpse of the annual humpback whale migration and was delighted with their professionalism with small intimate groups and eagerness to give the whales their space and opportunity to play.

Having been on whale watching experiences before it was a real pleasure to be able to observe these magnificent animals all around us - it also happened to be my best opportunity to snap some photos!

Catching Mist in the Valley of the Dinosaurs!!!

I was finally able to make a tour trip to the Valley of the Dinosaurs in the midst of some rain and mist - clear skies had always welcomed me before but this was a setting I had really hoped for for a while!

Stepping deep into the valley floor of Genowlan Creek and the Valley of the Dinosaurs, the mist really added that extra layer of serenity to the prehistoric scene!

I caught the watchful eyes of this stoic yellow-tailed black cockatoo away from the rest of the flock as it scanned the area around, planning its next destination. A perfect moment to get an opportunistic shot in!

There’s something just so mesmerising about the colour and beauty of black cockatoo species.

As we braved hiking the morning cold and wind, took the time to take in some sun as well as the magnificent view of Belougery Spire.

The beautiful rocks of the Warrumbungles are one to behold! Finding different vantage points of the incredible pyroplastic rock formations are just a few ways to experience this beautiful National Park!

Featuring the Gardens of Stone in all the glory of the setting sun. It’s nearing two years since I last ventured to Donkey Mountain, and while I hold out hope that an immediate access point may open again, (closure of Wolgan Road)I’ll probably head back up in the next few months when the long distance access from Wollemi opens again!

Moments after entering the Ultimate Slot, light started to stream in through a plethora of angles. What was ultimately a dark cavity a few minutes prior was suddenly illuminated by the sudden burst of light!

I caught this glossy guy enjoying a meal of sheoak cone seeds amongst the allocasuarina growing in the Upper Blue Mountains! It was just this glossy black cockatoo in the midst of the surrounding pine cones - oblivious to anything else going on.

Working away expertly at the cones to get to the precious seeds within, this guy seemed more than content to be happy with his meal. Is that a smile I see? 😊

It was an amazing day out in the Valley of the Dinosaurs and surrounds immersed in the canopy of ferns, towering trees and pagodas. I can’t wait for more tours to this beautiful area showcasing some of the splendour that the gems of the Capertee Valley has to offer.

The feeling of being transported into another dimension of time and other worldly features is second to none on a walk in Mugii Murum-ban SCA!

Walking amongst the towering tree ferns of Wollemi National Park - It’s an absolute sight to behold in this ancient landscape that feels like stepping back in time in the deep forest and towering sandstone walls.
