Elite universities strongly oppose the government's plan to limit new international student enrolments to 270,000 next year. The Group of Eight chief executives believes this decision will further harm Australia's global education reputation.
Education Minister Jason Clare revealed the proposed national planning level, which aims to set total university enrolments at 270,000, similar to 2023 levels.
This may result in some universities growing their enrolments while others will be scaled back.
