On December 7 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) visa replaced the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa.

All TSS nominations and visa applications lodged prior to the implementation of the SID visa will be processed using the requirements in force at the time the application was lodged.

If your employer has lodged a TSS nomination and you have not lodged your associated TSS visa👷👩‍🌾👨‍🎓 application before 7 December 2024, if the nomination is approved it will be deemed a SID nomination and you can lodge an associated application for a SID visa. IMMIGRATION CHANGES 2025
Australia's federal government is introducing significant immigration reforms in 2025 to tackle workforce shortages, enhance regional development, and strengthen the immigration system. Below are the key updates and their implications for migrants, employers, and students.

The Australian Government announced the release of the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).

The new CSOL fulfils the Government’s commitment to replace complex, out of date and inflexible occupation lists in our temporary skilled visa program. The CSOL is a single consolidated list, informed by labour market analysis and stakeholder consultations by Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) that provides access to temporary skilled migration for 456 occupations.

The CSOL will apply to the Core Skills stream of the new Skills in Demand visa, which will replace the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa on 7 December 2024. The CSOL will also apply to the Direct Entry stream of the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa.

📢 Smoother Path to Permanent Residence for Skilled Workers! 🇦🇺

Big changes to the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa are here, making it easier for skilled migrants in critical occupations to stay in Australia permanently.

Key Updates (Effective 7 December 2024):
🔹 Temporary Residence Transition Stream (TRT):
• All periods of sponsored work count toward the 2-year experience requirement.
• Work in related fields or promotions also qualify.
• Applicants, not employers, provide evidence of work experience.
• New Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): AUD73,150 (indexed annually).

🔹 Direct Entry Stream (DE):
• Introduction of a single Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), tailored to Australia’s labour market needs. Key sectors:
• Construction
• Cybersecurity
• Agriculture
• Health and Education

These changes reflect the Government’s commitment to clearer pathways for skilled migrants to achieve permanent residence.

✅ Access priority processing for key visa categories, including:

• Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)

What’s New?
