They gained a stack of valuable outdoor skills to take on their future adventures (like knowing they’re brave enough to eat worms)!

This Great White shark recently stunned researchers when they pulled the camera from the depths of Tamatea/Dusky Sound in Aotearoa/New Zealand’s Fiordland.
‘We’ve only seen a white shark once before during our surveys, at the Kermadec Islands, the other end of New Zealand’, says Sea Through Science researcher, Adam Smith. ‘It’s very rare to get such great footage.’
The researchers have collected 200+ hours of footage from Fiordland waters to better understand the diversity of wildlife and analyse the health of the recreational fishery within Tamatea/Dusky Sound.
Now they can add Great White to their list of fish species in the area!
Great White sharks are endangered in Aotearoa/New Zealand and protected under the both the Wildlife and Fisheries Acts.
