Some VERY exciting announcements today in the world of Meta creator monetization. In our view this is great for Content Creators and Clients alike:

💰 More money going straight to creators: We'll hold off on any revenue sharing on Facebook and Instagram until 2024. That includes paid online events, Subscriptions, Badges, and Bulletin.

🛒 Creator Marketplace: We're testing a set place on Instagram where creators can get discovered and paid, and where brands can share new partnership opportunities.

📽 Monetizing Reels: We're opening up the Reels Play Bonus program to more creators on Facebook soon and letting creators cross-post their Instagram Reels to Facebook and monetize them there too.

✨ Facebook Stars: We're opening them up to all eligible creators so more people can start earning from their Reels, live, or VOD videos.

💡 Digital Collectibles: We're expanding our test so more creators around the world can display their NFTs on Instagram. We'll bring this feature to Facebook soon too -- starting with a small group of US creators -- so people can cross-post on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll also test NFTs in Instagram Stories with SparkAR soon.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Interoperable Subscriptions: We're letting creators give their paying subscribers on other platforms access to subscriber-only Facebook Groups.

The relationship between Japan and Australia has continued to grow closer over the past couple of decades.

Currently, Australia’s exports to Japan are worth $41.5 billion dollars, making Japan our second-largest export destination. While these statistics prove our connections economically, a recently signed trade agreement between Australia and Japan will provide unique opportunities for Aussie businesses to grow further in Japan.

Japan's ageing population slows the nation

Japan and its economy have been a pillar in not only Asia but also a foundation of the trans-pacific partnership.

The country’s economy is ranked 3rd in terms of nominal GDP of 5.6 trillion dollars. It also boasts the world's 11th largest population with about 127 million people who call the island nation home. Japanese people are known for their determination and strong work ethic, most recently demonstrated with the country hosting the Olympics in the middle of a pandemic.

However, there are storm clouds on the horizon. Read more about Japan and challenges facing Asia on our blog

It’s official! Brisbane has been selected as the host for the 2032 Olympics. Millions of tourists from around the globe will make the trek to Australia to watch the world's best athletes compete. It will be the first time they have been hosted in Australia since Sydney had the honour in 2000.

32 years will have passed when the olympic flame is lit in Brisbane, it is sure to be worth the wait. It has been estimated that the cost of getting the 2032 Olympics up and running will be a whopping 5 billion dollars. This may sound high, but when looking at how this olympic games will benefit the local economy, Australians should be cheering.

The games are estimated to bring in 8.1 billion dollars to the Queensland economy. Some may be apprehensive about their city hosting the Olympics, just look at the economic troubles past hosts have had. The 2016 games in Rio left the city in debt and numerous stadiums that were impossible to upkeep. As well as Greece, who's hosting duties were too much for their economy to handle. However, these games are sure to be a success.

Australia has the infrastructure in place to host and has the capacity to build more venues. Along with this, they have the financial backing to support the games. This is an opportunity for Australia to strut its stuff on the world stage, what's not to be excited about?

Hosting video meetings with international teams can be challenging, not just the time zone differences but building rapport and collaborating across cultures with language nuances can add layers of complexity.

Our friends at KUDO have developed a multi-lingual meeting platform to allow participants to speak and listen in their own language whilst sharing live video.

This is a pretty cool solution, we've already started testing it out in Korean and English 😁 👏

KUDO for Web Conferencing is a cloud-based solution for online meetings and video conferences with real-time interpretation. Your meeting, your language.

An open letter to the Prime Minister - seeking a reopening plan for Australia (From The Australian Tourism Export Council)

Dear Prime Minister,

We are writing to you to seek urgent clarity on your plan for reopening our international borders and reconnecting Australian businesses to the global economy.

As we pass by yet another month of closures and continuing uncertainty, tourism export businesses are dismayed at the Federal Government’s lack of clarity or concern around setting a framework for reopening.

While the industry fully understands the importance of protecting the health of the Australian community, there is a desperate need for businesses to identify a clear roadmap by which they can plan and strategise for the future inbound tourism marketplace.

There is also significant concern at the slow rate at which the Government is applying more sophisticated, multi-layered risk management processes that enables Australia to manage the COVID-19 risk offshore. Managing this risk through extensive pre-departure testing, tracking and tracing technology will minimise the chance of COVID-19 entering Australia and in doing so, avoid the significant costs incurred in managing the exposure to the community which we are experiencing through the current on-shore quarantine processes.

The impacts on pure export tourism businesses are direct and clear - without international visitors, they have no clients, no income, and increasingly, no future. More broadly for the tourism industry and many others, closed borders mean not only a limited client base but chronic staff shortages and the increasing risk of disconnection from the global marketplace and future growth opportunities.

While some businesses in our industry are surviving with an increase in domestic travel, this surge is short-term and will no doubt change dramatically once our borders reopen and Australians can travel overseas again. We simply can't afford to be complacent and accept this short-term situation as a long-term comfort. Without international visitors, our industry will slip, taking us back to a period where Australia was seen internationally as an expensive, inaccessible, and unsophisticated destination.

We urge the Government to come forth quickly with a framework for reopening, one that outlines the conditions under which our borders will begin to open and one that recognises that Australia needs to get back in the game of international trade before we lose ground to those countries which have been able to vaccinate their citizens and move forward with rebuilding their economies and international engagement.

We look forward to your urgent response.

Crown Resorts (ASX:CWN) is searching for financial assistance to sort out its problems and to reduce Mr Packer's holdings from 37% to 10%.

Regulators do not favour investors from Asia, primarily due to Melco's links to organised crime and money laundering.

Ponder this crazy idea, why doesn't the Australian Government step in and buy both the Crown and Star Entertainment groups, merge them as a single public company, and operate this new entity according to the "regulations"?

This would allow a complete cleanup of administration, operations, all according to regulatory compliance. Additionally, profits generated could be returned into International Tourism marketing campaigns to attract more tourists, as well as reinvestment into the infrastructure and facilities for public use.

Perhaps this idea isn't so crazy...we're happy to provide detailed case studies of how several other countries in Asia have done this...
