Katherine has grown up in a family renowned throughout the thoroughbred industry. They were also instrumental in administration in NSW Country Racing.

Etak Thoroughbreds was established by Katherine Nivison, with its main aim to supply tough, sound thoroughbreds that are bred to both win and also be commercial for the sales ring. The Nivison's have had a great impact on breeding and racing with victorious horses such as Tar Girl, At Sea,Income Tax etc. But successful breeding and racing didn't just come from Katherine's father's side; her mother

's family also raced and bred champion racehorses, includingBaguette, Whisked, Vionnet. Her mother, Jill, bred Inspired - Winner of the 1984 Slipper - and in recent years Jill has enjoyed success with Tie the Knot,Spinning Hill and Fashion News who she bred and races in partnership with her brother. One of Etak Thoroughbreds recent successes was to breed the 2010 Golden Slipper runner, Lohan. This filly was bred from one of the old Nivison racing bloodlines, combined with Kate's improvements to the pedigree. This achievement came from her first year of serious breeding. Etak Thoroughbreds has a small, but flourishing, band of mares. These include the likes of Inclination, dam of Lohanand Shahzadi who is from a full sister to At Sea. Etak Thoroughbreds also sells throughout the year in both the weanling and yearling markets. Katherine had a delightful success at the 2010 Inglis Easter sale with the Fastnet Rockex New Style filly selling for $120,000. In 2011, Etak Thoroughbreds will be selling their yearlings and weanlings with Shadwell Farm and Sefton Park, both of which have had great success in the past. Etak Thoroughbreds are determined to deliver resilient, sound racehorses that win races for years to come. So pleased with how Sola's (Isola) YYY c**t has developed. Big thanks to Cousin Olly and his team at Twin Hills who have done a fabulous job prepping him. LOT 493 Inglis Premier. Fingers crossed I can stay in for his racing career. Raised at Coolmore Australia so excited to see what he can achieve. SOLA is back in foal to YYY.

Bred in conjunction with Noogee Park Thoroughbreds and sold Inglis Classic. Got to love Widden Stud Nicconi.

It was an Australian bred trifecta in the HK$12million Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m) at Sha Tin on Sunday with victory going to Nicconi gelding Super Sunny Sing over Sword Point (American Pharoah (USA) and Galaxy Witness (Star Witness).

End of a era today. Age finally caught up with my beloved Inclination. Born in 1997 the year Dad died. Inci was my first racehorse that I ever raced with my brother Jimmy and my cousins Hamish and Jock. She was the first and only horse to be banned from Walcha by Mum. She was notorious both at the racetrack in Tamworth and then at her various stud homes including Coolmore where she resided for many years. She loved Sugar. Her daughter Lohan was the first black type I bred and ran in Golden Slipper. In her latter years she was under the care of Jilly and Tone at Noogee Park Thoroughbreds. I can't thank them enough for all the care they gave her. She will be missed but she brings a smile when I think of all her antics. She truly had a wonderful life. She is why I fell in love with Thoroughbreds.
