Travel to Australia
There are specific requirements for travel from and to Australia during the pandemic which differ by State. Please check your eligibility to travel. Domestic travel between States and territories is also currently subject to restrictions.

COVID‑19 testing requirements
All passengers travelling to, or transiting Australia must provide evidence of a negative COVID‑19 (PCR) test result taken 3 days or less prior to the scheduled departure time of the traveller’s flight (or first flight if the traveller has one or more connecting flights booked for their travel to Australia).
Passengers who have previously been diagnosed with COVID‑19 will only be able to travel if they provide clearance documentation from a medical provider which clearly documents that:
At least 14 days have passed since the onset of symptoms or initial positive COVID‑19 PCR test if asymptomatic.
There has been clinical resolution of fever and respiratory symptoms of the acute illness for the previous 72 hours.
That you previously had COVID‑19 but are now recovered and not considered to be infectious.

Exemptions to pre‑departure testing:
Children who are 4 years of age or younger (exemption automatically granted based on age on passport)
People with a relevant medical condition (who can provide a medical certificate. For more information on exemptions: FAQs for international passengers.)
International air crew
Travellers entering Australia on a 'Green Safe Travel Zone' flight.
Passengers travelling from countries where no COVID‑19 PCR testing available, as determined by the Australian Government

Required forms
All travellers to Australia should complete the Australia Travel Declaration 72 hours minimum before they fly to Australia. Failure to complete the Australia Travel Declaration can cause delays at check in and may result in further delays on arrival in Australia.
Travellers can now complete the Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) form online or on the Australia Travel Declaration app. You can download the app from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play store (Android). For more information visit the official website.
Diplomats are not required to complete the form.
Some Australian States also require separate border declaration forms which are outlined below.
Quarantine
There are specific guidelines, requirements and fees for mandatory quarantine in each state.
Other Information
Passengers travelling to Australia must wear a mask for the duration of the flight, and in Australian airports. Passengers should also wear masks in the airport prior to boarding. Information on passengers who are exempt from the mask wearing requirement can be found here.
Sydney
From 1 November 2021, Australian passport holders, permanent residents and direct family members can enter New South Wales without quarantine if they have been doubly vaccinated with a TGA approved or recognised vaccine (for travellers aged 12 years and above).
In line with Commonwealth protocols, children under 12 arriving with fully vaccinated parents and people with a valid medical exemption will be considered fully vaccinated.
To travel to Sydney on Emirates, you must be fully vaccinated with a TGA approved or TGA recognised vaccine. Please check your vaccination status carefully.
Seven days must have passed since the final dose of vaccine in a course of immunisation for you to be considered fully vaccinated. Mixed doses count towards being fully vaccinated as long as all vaccines are approved or recognised by the TGA.
If you have flights booked to Sydney with Emirates but you are not fully vaccinated with a TGA‑approved or TGA recognised vaccine, and you are not in an exemption category, you will not be able to travel on Emirates to Sydney until you are fully vaccinated. Please contact Emirates or your travel agent to rebook your flights.
Australian citizens or permanent residents travelling to Australia who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons should check the quarantine requirements in the state or territory they are travelling to. Proof of medical exemption must be presented at the time of check‑in at the airport.

Brisbane
All international passengers arriving in Queensland from overseas must undergo mandatory quarantine in government‑arranged accommodation for 14 days at their own expense.
The hotel quarantine fee includes meals and hotel room costs. For details, refer to this website.
All passengers arriving into Queensland from an international port must complete a Queensland International Arrivals Registration form 72 hours in advance of their arrival. Visit https://www.qld.gov.au/internationalarrivalstoqld.
Perth
All international passengers arriving into Western Australia from overseas must undergo quarantine in government‑arranged accommodation for 14 days at their own expense.
The quarantine fee includes meals and hotel room costs. Details can be found here
G2G pass to enter WA:
Interstate and international arrivals must complete a G2G PASS declaration to enter Western Australia. This must be completed and submitted prior to travel, at the G2G PASS website. Once your G2G PASS declaration has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email with a unique QR code, and the terms and conditions that apply.

Melbourne
From 1 November 2021, Australian passport holders, permanent residents and direct family members can enter Victoria without quarantine if they have been doubly vaccinated with a TGA approved or recognised vaccine (for travellers aged 12 years and above).
A COVID‑19 test must be taken within 24 hours after arriving in Melbourne.
In line with Commonwealth protocols, children under 12 arriving with fully vaccinated parents and people with a valid medical exemption will be considered fully vaccinated.
To travel to Melbourne on Emirates, you must be fully vaccinated with a TGA‑approved or TGA‑recognised vaccine. Please check your vaccination status carefully.

Travel from Australia
From 1 November 2021, fully vaccinated Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members can travel from Australia for international destinations without requiring an outwards travel exemption.
Australian citizens and permanent residents departing Australia who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons should present their Australian COVID 19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement (these may indicate a ‘valid to’ date) as proof of their medical exemption. Travelling to Sydney and Melbourne only:
Passengers who cannot be vaccinated
For travellers who provide a medical certificate that indicates they can’t be vaccinated with a COVID‑19 vaccine because of a medical condition, the medical certificate must include the following information:
Their name (this must match their travel identification documents)
Date of medical consultation and details of their medical practitioner
Details that clearly acknowledge that they have a medical condition which means they can’t receive a COVID‑19 vaccination (vaccination is contraindicated)
This category does not include travellers who have received non‑TGA approved or recognised vaccines, who won’t be treated as vaccinated for the purposes of their travel.
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated Australian children aged 12 17
Australian children who arrive in Australia will be considered unvaccinated if they are:
aged 12 17 years inclusive and have not received any COVID 19 vaccination
aged 12 17 years inclusive and have only been partially vaccinated with a recognised COVID 19 vaccine
aged 12 17 years inclusive and have been partially or fully vaccinated with a non recognised COVID 19 vaccine
Where an unvaccinated child aged 12 17 years inclusive is travelling with parent/guardians who are all fully vaccinated, the entire family will be able to travel to Sydney and Melbourne without quarantine.
If the accompanying parent/guardians are not fully vaccinated or are not in the exempt category, the children will not be able to travel on Emirates until all the accompanying travellers are fully vaccinated. Please contact Emirates or your travel agent to rebook your flight.
