The dynamic duo returns in 2024! Tracy & Mon are here to answer your adventure questions and today is a relevant question since our Nepal Trek just opened!
This Q&A Tuesday is from Rachael (thank you for emailing us!) and it’s about altitude sickness.
What if you’re keen to trek in Nepal but a little nervous about getting sick?
Even the best of us can experience altitude sickness - it's a serious concern in high-altitude areas like Nepal.
To help you stay safe and enjoy your trek, we've compiled a list of of these 7 top tips for prevention.
1. Walk Slowly: Adjust your pace to the altitude. Walking slower than usual is key.
2. Rest Regularly: Take frequent breaks to rest and acclimatise.
3. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Hydration is crucial!
4. Use Electrolytes: Supplementing with electrolytes can help maintain your body's balance.
5. Consider Medication: Consult a doctor about using Diamox as a preventative measure.
6. Eat Well: Your body needs more energy at high altitudes, so eat regular, nourishing meals.
7. Drink Ginger Tea: A natural remedy, ginger tea can help alleviate symptoms.
Our itineraries are carefully planned to allow for safe acclimatization. We advise ascending no more than 300-500m (1000-1600ft) per day. Some days might involve shorter treks, but this is to ensure your safety and comfort. In addition to these tips:
+ Avoid Alcohol, Smoking, and Caffeine: These can exacerbate altitude sickness.

"I'm not FIT enough to come on an adventure!" Today's question comes from Jane, who is worried she's not fit enough to come on a trip. Sound familiar? We get this question a lot, so guides Monique and Tracy sit down to answer it. 💪🏼
Comment below if you've been feeling the same or if this has been holding you back. 🤔
Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women all around the world! 💪🌍🙌
But let's not forget that there is still much work to be done. Women continue to face discrimination and barriers to success, both in the workplace and in society at large. We must continue to push for change and progress, and we must do it together. 👊👭
That's why, every day we believe women should go get get after what they want. What they deserve. We believe women should come together to support and empower each other, this is so important. 💜👩❤️👩💪
We need to lift each other up and create opportunities for one another. We need to show up as our true, authentic selves and demand respect and equality. That is what we truly want. ✊🌟💖
Speaking of equality, let's be clear: it's not just about being "equal as humans." It's about recognising and valuing the unique perspectives, experiences, and contributions of women. It's about creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their gender or identity. 🌎💜🌈
So, to all the women out there: keep speaking your truth, even when it's hard. Keep pushing for change and progress, even when it feels like an uphill battle. And know that we are proud of you, and we stand with you every step of the way, on and off the trails. 💪💜👏👩👩👧👧
Together, we can create a brighter, more equal future for all. 🌅💜✨

A plunge into a river, a laugh, a change to take up space!
We take the hard work out of the organising, just turn up.
