McCarthy in the Wrangle-St. Elais National Park is a hidden gem in Alaska. To experience a Northern Lights show such as this one whilst there, makes it even more special. Great photo Allan Long.

Spent three days down in McCarthy with the hopes of catching the Northern Lights over Kennecott Mine. On September 6th, I stood up at the mine from 10:30ish until 4:30 in the morning. The lights showed up around 2:30 and were on and off the rest of the night. It was the only day I had clear skies. The rest of the time it was socked in with clouds and rain. Hope you enjoy!

If you are travelling in Alaska mid August I recommend heading down to Alyeska Resort (40 minutes drive south of Anchorage) for the Blueberry Festival.

After a two year hiatus, our signature Blueberry Festival is back in 2022! Join us on August 13 & 14 for live music, beer and wine garden, artisan vendors, pie eating contests, and of course, blueberry picking! More details to come.

If your itinerary includes visiting Talkeetna, which it should, take a flight with these great pilots. I recommend a landing at Denali base camp, you wont forget the experience.

A photo taken by one of our pilots today. Foraker, Hunter, and Denali ~peak~ing out above the clouds. You never know what those ☁️ could be hiding!

When driving along Turnagain Arm make sure you take time to stop and look for Beluga Whales. One of the best drives in Alaska.

Anchorage city limit is Portage. I mean Wow! These cars parked along the highway are for the spring Hooligan fishing 🎣 on the Turnagain Arm which also means Beluga whales will be seen chasing the Hooligan.

This is what you can catch just a few minutes stroll from Anchorage! Ship Creek is a favorite local fishing and shorebird-viewing spot near downtown Anchorage.
Lying entirely within the limits of the Municipality of Anchorage, this Alaskan river flows from the Chugach Mountains into the Cook Inlet.

Big Smiles & Big Chrome!

That’s what we’re getting excited about.

Here is not only a quintessential Alaska photo but as photographer Jeff Schultz calls it: “A once in a lifetime opportunity." Jeff says, “To see this herd of caribou walking up the ridge line far above tree line looking for food was a jaw-dropping experience. And to have the Wrangell Saint Elias Mountains in the background was icing on the cake." This image was made with a Canon 1DX Mark II camera and a 70-200mm lens at 170mm at 1/4000th second f/9 at ISO 500 handheld.
