You'll be writing travel tips for travellers and blogs, emails, landing pages... for the hotel and travel industry (with a focus on Guest Experience) plus taking data briefs and cleverly mixing them up with local knowledge. Of course we don't expect you to have travelled everywhere in Oz so your role will also involve desktop research and some phone interviews to build up your knowledge. Experience in travel writing and SEO are essential, and you'll need a keen ear for tone. Bonus points if you've already worked for a tech start up!

If I ask anyone who has been to Hobart if they have been to world-renowned art museum and the answer is generally “yes”. If I ask if they ate at Source Restaurant I usually get a blank stare. Source is MONA’s fine dining option and as they call themselves “a temple to seasonal Tasmanian dining”. Book a table near a window before the sun sets so you can appreciate the sweeping river views and sit back for an experience you won’t forget. The service is exceptional, the moss and herb covered tables are quirky and the food is unforgettable. My favourite dish is the Tasmanian slow roasted pork loin with tamarind pumpkin, pickled cauliflower and hazelnut and koji mole. They also make a dreamy Mezcal Margarita as the perfect sun-downer.

Maria Island isn't only natural beauty, there’s some man-made history to admire as well.

The remains of the penal settlement at the deserted, and allegedly haunted, town of Darlington are five years older than Port Arthur. The World Heritage Listed Darlington Probation Station is the most intact example of its type in Australia.

The restored Bernacchi House, built in 1843 and named after failed 19th-century Italian settler Diego Bernacchi, stands alone as a reminder of dashed dreams and serves as modern day accommodation for guided tours of the island.

The is housed in a former dormitory ward located in the Instagram-friendly setting of the former New Norfolk asylum in the Derwent Valley, a 30-minute drive north-west of Hobart.
 
The $120pp set menu is strictly seasonal and changes regularly. Ingredients are sourced from local growers, farmers and fishermen and their own garden and farm.
 
The Eatery also operates a take-away kiosk on weekends. Guests can picnic on the nearby Barracks Lawns, the New Norfolk waterfront or nearby Tynwald Park.
