Park Update
Great Ocean Walk
Parks Victoria are aware of reports of new gale/wind storm damage on the Great Ocean Walk (GOW) between Devils Kitchen and the Twelve Apostles. Trees and wind-blown vegetation obstacles are being assessed and will be treated by crews when safe to do so. A section > 1.5kms from Devils Kitchen to the Twelve Apostles on the GOW has been impacted by a recent storm and is “challenging to get through.” Extra time and precautions should be taken in this area. If the area is assessed as unsafe by Parks Victoria rangers; a closure may need to be implemented at short notice.

Due to severe weather activity many parks, piers and waterway closures are now in place across the state for public safety.

There is an elevated risk of falling trees or branches, unstable ground, significant wave heights, king tides, damaging winds and flash flooding.

Please follow the advice from VicEmergency and Victoria State Emergency Service, obey road closures and do not go into closed parks, piers and waterways.

The full extent of damage isn’t yet known and it may take some time to fully understand the scale of impact. Once safe, we will be working hard to undertake hazard assessments and restore safe access for visitors. In the meantime, we ask for your patience and please be extra careful over the coming days.

Before you visit a park, always check www.parks.vic.gov.au to ensure the park you want to visit is open and safe. To look up specific park closures, use the search field, and enter the park name to find the park you are looking for. If a park is closed or has safety issues, a red or orange tab will appear at the top of the park webpage. Click the tab to find out further details.
