Look who has completed another lap of the sun today - and a very busy year with eXpedition10 clocking up nearly 30,000 touring klm!
Well you’d think after such a busy year, Phillip would be enjoying a well earned rest break but oh no! he’s set off today to drive tractors 🚜 helping out a mate with harvesting!!!
Happy birthday Phil, wishing you a wonderful day and another great year ahead.

Our Home Run across the Simpson Desert has finished but what an adventure it was. From Chambers Pillar we travelled south along the old Ghan train line, called into Finke then Mount Mt Dare Hotel for the night.
The next 4 days were spent crossing the 1100'ish sand dunes of the Simpson to take a break at the Birdsville Hotel.
Called in to see Robbo at Betoota Hotel then Ian at the Western Star Pub in Windorah , then Pat at Sadleir's Waterhole - (is this starting to sound like a pub crawl? ;).
Spent our last night with Ree at The Barn at Mt Hope - a great night and fitting end to our adventure with our wonderful group of friends.

One tour ends and before you know it, another begins!
We started our ‘Home Run - across the Simpson Desert’ trip and it’s a ripper!
Departed Alice Springs and travelled through the Finke Gorge to Boggy Hole, pulled up for a stopover at Kings Ck Station before continuing to Chambers Pillar for our second night stopover. What a beautiful place.
But wait, there will be more….

Today, we took our Reccy group to the Alice Springs Airport to return home after sharing their company for 30 days!
It was an epic journey full of amazing sights, some long days and rough roads and a lot of laughter.
It was the first time eXpedition10 eXplored the Kimberley and travelled the Gibb River Road so another sticker was added to the bus before they departed.
Thanks for travelling with us again Reccy Crew. Did we hear a whisper you might be back for a fourth trip……?

And just like that, we are almost back in the Alice ready for our Home Run across the Simpson Desert.
Tomorrow we farewell our Reccy Crew after an epic journey from Steep Point to Alice Springs through the amazing Kimberley region of WA. We hope you’ve enjoyed our pictures as much as we’ve enjoyed the journey.
Here are a few, just to finish off the tour of our travels from Kununurra to Alice.

Sunday’s eXcursion to the Bungle Bungles.
It was an early start - 6am at Kununurra Airport to board our scenic flight with Aviair to Purnululu National Park. Pilot Ben gave us an incredibly smooth flight with fascinating commentary for the entire trip.
What a day! Here is a small sample of our pictures from the day.

Getting closer to the end of the ‘Reccy’ tour through the Kimberley.
From Broome, we travelled to Derby to join a flight to Horizontal Falls, continued to El Questro, explored some gorges and visited the Mitchell Plateau and swam at Mitchell Falls. Stayed out at Lake Argyle and took a sunset swim in the lake. Now we are in Kununurra for a few nights.
Tomorrow we explore the Bungle Bungles.

Part 2 of our Kimberley ‘Reccy Crew’ tour visited Karijini NP then travelled north through Port Hedland, Eighty Mile Beach to a relaxing 3 night stopover in beautiful Broome - just in time for the Staircase to the Moon festivities. Tomorrow we take a seaplane adventure for an overnight stay to the Horizontal Falls before travelling deeper into the Kimberley.

We were so lucky to be in Broome tonight to see the ‘Staircase to the Moon’, an event which happens as the full moon rises, reflecting on the exposed Roebuck Bay tidal flats at low tide.

Last week Phil and Rob returned to Western Australia to meet the ‘Reccy Crew’ in Denham who returned to do their THIRD TOUR with eXpedition10 - exploring the Pilbara and Kimberley.
They are now a week into the first part of the trip and have already visited Steep Point, the most westerly point on the Aussie mainland, raced through the dunes at Coral Bay on side-by-side buggies, toured the Mount Tom Price iron ore mine and are now clambering through the stunning gorges of Karijini National Park……and still have three weeks to go on their tour.
Stay tuned for updates on their eXpedition.

The second half of our eXtreme North to West tour departed Uluru, calling into Kata Tjuta (the Olga's) then followed the Great Central Road through Warrakurna, Tjukayirla and Laverton to Leonora. Recent rains in the region saw a slight deviation to our planned route but we got to see some very interesting country around Yalgoo and Geralton prior to the completion of our adventure at Steep Point and Denham - the completion of our journey from the most northern to the most western points of mainland Australia.

We love to eXplore on every trip at eXpedition10 and our eXtreme North to West tour was no eXception with a deviation through the Finke Gorge on the Boggy Hole track. In places it’s not really a track, you actually drive along the river bed! But the scenery? Amazing

We set off on our eXtreme North to West tour with Phil meeting the group on Horn Island then transferring to the mainland to join Rob at Loyalty Beach.
We all stood by the Cape York sign - the launching point for the trip across the country to Steep Point.
We’ve reached the ‘half way’ point at Uluru and are eagerly awaiting the next leg to the most western point on mainland Oz.
Stay tuned…..

On our Cape York tours, we eXplore as much of the cape as we can. The last few days saw us travel from the eastern side, Lockhart River, to the western side, Weipa then close to the northern point, Loyalty Beach - our base for 3 nights and tomorrows ‘launching point’ for our visit to Cape York.
Next stop after here - Thursday and Horn Islands.

As we left Palmerville we just had to get a picture at the sign. Called in to Old Gold town Maytown then Palmerville Station to say g’day to Adam. Took an overnight break at Fairview to watch Qld win the first match in State of Origin. Travelled further north through Coen and Archer River before turning east to Lockhart River for a two night stay at Greenhoose.

From Cooktown we called in to the Lions Den hotel for lunch then on to Palmerville to try our luck at gold fossicking. Didn’t find any gold this time but had a lot of fun digging up pieces of tin, some shoe tacks and a rake head! However, we did catch up with Andy from Aussie Gold Hunters who showed us some nuggets he’s dug up at Palmerville.

Following our Solar Whisperer croc cruise we set off into the Daintree. It’s amazing to see first hand just how much destruction tropical cyclone Jasper inflicted on this region.
Had a great overnight stay with Vicki and Alan at Heritage Lodge in the heart of the rainforest then spent today taking the ‘long way around’ to Cooktown.
Tomorrow- back to Palmerville!!!
