Last week Phil and Rob returned to Western Australia to meet the ‘Reccy Crew’ in Denham who returned to do their THIRD TOUR with eXpedition10 - exploring the Pilbara and Kimberley.
They are now a week into the first part of the trip and have already visited Steep Point, the most westerly point on the Aussie mainland, raced through the dunes at Coral Bay on side-by-side buggies, toured the Mount Tom Price iron ore mine and are now clambering through the stunning gorges of Karijini National Park……and still have three weeks to go on their tour.
Stay tuned for updates on their eXpedition.

The second half of our eXtreme North to West tour departed Uluru, calling into Kata Tjuta (the Olga's) then followed the Great Central Road through Warrakurna, Tjukayirla and Laverton to Leonora. Recent rains in the region saw a slight deviation to our planned route but we got to see some very interesting country around Yalgoo and Geralton prior to the completion of our adventure at Steep Point and Denham - the completion of our journey from the most northern to the most western points of mainland Australia.

We love to eXplore on every trip at eXpedition10 and our eXtreme North to West tour was no eXception with a deviation through the Finke Gorge on the Boggy Hole track. In places it’s not really a track, you actually drive along the river bed! But the scenery? Amazing

We set off on our eXtreme North to West tour with Phil meeting the group on Horn Island then transferring to the mainland to join Rob at Loyalty Beach.
We all stood by the Cape York sign - the launching point for the trip across the country to Steep Point.
We’ve reached the ‘half way’ point at Uluru and are eagerly awaiting the next leg to the most western point on mainland Oz.
Stay tuned…..

On our Cape York tours, we eXplore as much of the cape as we can. The last few days saw us travel from the eastern side, Lockhart River, to the western side, Weipa then close to the northern point, Loyalty Beach - our base for 3 nights and tomorrows ‘launching point’ for our visit to Cape York.
Next stop after here - Thursday and Horn Islands.

As we left Palmerville we just had to get a picture at the sign. Called in to Old Gold town Maytown then Palmerville Station to say g’day to Adam. Took an overnight break at Fairview to watch Qld win the first match in State of Origin. Travelled further north through Coen and Archer River before turning east to Lockhart River for a two night stay at Greenhoose.

From Cooktown we called in to the Lions Den hotel for lunch then on to Palmerville to try our luck at gold fossicking. Didn’t find any gold this time but had a lot of fun digging up pieces of tin, some shoe tacks and a rake head! However, we did catch up with Andy from Aussie Gold Hunters who showed us some nuggets he’s dug up at Palmerville.

Following our Solar Whisperer croc cruise we set off into the Daintree. It’s amazing to see first hand just how much destruction tropical cyclone Jasper inflicted on this region.
Had a great overnight stay with Vicki and Alan at Heritage Lodge in the heart of the rainforest then spent today taking the ‘long way around’ to Cooktown.
Tomorrow- back to Palmerville!!!

First day of winter! We’re out of here heading north to the Cape - again.
It was a beautiful drive from Cairns to Mossman this morning with fabulous views along the coastal road.
The group are on a croc spotting cruise at the moment with Solar Whisper Daintree River Crocodile & Wildlife Cruises before crossing the Daintree River to spend time in the Daintree rainforest. Hope to see some cassowary…..

We’ve just shared an amazing few days at Palmerville Station Camp Grounds with 3 lovely couples; Lionel & Claire, Phil & Bernadette and Mal & Liz. Hosted at Palmerville by Frog and Kerrie and chaperoned by Uncle Danny and the Western Yalanji TO Rangers we managed to search for gold, explore historic gold mining sites, visit to some ancient rock art sites and be totally entertained by Archie.

Was that a little tear drop in Rob’s eye as we drove away from his grandkids in Ayr this morning? Called in to the Frosty Mango for an ice cream then visited the big gumboot in Tully - of course it started to rain when we arrived. Cardwell by the Sea is always spectacular as is QLD’s highest peak, Mt Bartle Frere but we could only see a fraction of its 1622 meter height for the cloud cover. Finally arrived in Cairns in readiness for our next adventure with the winners of the It's a Bloke Thing raffle to Palmerville Station, North Qld.

We spent today travelling from Rocky, pulling up tonight in Ayr.
Smoko saw us pull in for a cuppa at Flaggy Rock Cafe, a great little place to break the drive north. I’m pretty sure Rob enjoyed his chocolate thick shake.
In Mackay Phil decided he needed a haircut while Bev went shopping before continuing further north through the Burdekin cane fields to Ayr.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

It’s a new shower tent that we have been fitting up to the back of our 4X4 bus for our next lot of Outback adventures.

Have you been to any of these Australian places?
From our gallery, we've randomly picked three images we've taken whilst on tour, from each state. We thought it would be fun for you to let us know in the comments which these destinations you've visited. OR, share in the comments, a picture you've taken when you've visited your favourite Australian place. (PS - you're allowed to have more than one favourite spot🙂

Cheers!!Hope you are all having a great weekend.
