I guess this means one thing?
Meterys in super shallow water are always memorable. The initial bite is often explosive, then it's usually airborne from there on. Each release is often a lottery if you get a gentle swim away or quite often you get saturated!!!!
What's a stability test without some fishing??
My little barra boat is due for a bit of an upgrade and revamp soon after many years of constant work. Who wants me to return her to the old bionic blue of the early days??
Well, I finally had a day off. And the promise of a variable 10 knot forecast seemed too inviting. So after what has seemed an eternity with these strong trade winds I managed to get the new boat out for more testing and giving the engines a bit of a stretch. While in the video it was nice in Cleveland Bay, further out in Cape bowling green was quite the opposite with winds pushing that 20 knots barrier. Mainly went searching for new ground and managed a nice Spanish, spotted and doggie mackeral. Mate Ray lafferty unfortunatly dusted by a couple of big trout and also had a ball in the arvo on big queenies. A lot of people ask me if I go fishing in my free time and honestly I don't have much of that these days... was great to just go out and do whatever while having a few laughs with mates..
Heading towards sunset....
One good test to perform with a twin engine setup, and particularly a good test for 2C survey reasons, is the ability to get home on one engine if one fails (not that we expect one to fail but any brand can have one to have an issue). Open 2C survey requirements mandate to have 2 main engines.
We cut one motor and raised it up then proceeded to get all 7.6m of her on the plane on a single 115hp. She still managed 27 knots.

One thing I love about 2 engines is the ability to spin the boat on its own length.

Got to go for the first sea trial in hull number 1 this afternoon and I have to say she performs better than any hull that size I've ever been on. Clients will enjoy the smooth ride in rough conditions that's for sure. A good 15 knot afternoon seabreeze out the front and she ate it up. Hardly any spray over the sides at all.
After a quick pic, another one sent on her way home.
