Not fishing related, but rather a positive post needed after all the flood disaster the region has copped in the last few months, While in Cardwell I got to sample the menu from the new owners at The Beachcomber restaurant and really from someone who loves his food!!, i was impressed. I thoroughly recommend if you are passing through here to stay and dine!.

Quite a noticeable change with most aggregations up at hinchy today not being in the usual locations. Kinda found the sweet areas this arvo with a few good ones to 83cm.

Been a minute......Glad to be here without it raining... or will it?

To me there is a great satisfaction in finding new fish holding locations. Ones that can be mostly reliable and produce good numbers across most tide ranges. Always good to add to your library of options.

Time to make good use of our sharks. Seeing we have the 1.5m size rule and bag limit of 1 on most shark species. If we don't, the depradation situation is going to get a lot worse.

I was invited to attend the recent Queensland fisheries shark depradation meeting for line fisheries here in Townsville recently. Which really is an admission by them that we have a shark problem. Especially after hearing other charter operators from up north who fish in very remote locations, who all say they have the same issues in areas that hardly see a boat.

Basically, they arent listening to us and wanting to put costly band aid solutions which won't work in all fishing situations.

Ill have to do a post about the meeting another time when I have had time to calm down as we all left with the feeling of not being listened to and as if another box has been ticked by govt depts.

Won't it be great when kids (and everyone else)can enjoy catching big Barra like this in our very own Ross River Dam..

And the only screen that was to be found on this adventure was the camera used to take the footage of the smile on this young fellas face!. Made some great memories.

Probably one of the hottest days I've spent on the water at cardwell today. Due to the northerly winds dragged in by the ex tropical low down south, water temps reaching up around 36 degrees really put the stick in my spokes with my game plan for today. Had to really reach deep into that box of tricks to pluck a couple of barra into the boat up to 83cms being the best.
Honestly keeping live bait alive in the tank was a challenge. I was probably better off tipping in some Maggie 2min chicken noodles.. 😏😅

Amazing how weather changes of recent make things go from go to woah and then back to go again. Plenty of these 62 to 69cm flats models kicking around currently with some amazing sessions producing good numbers in short time. These pair going home for a feed. Best size to eat in my opinion.

Hoping everyone is getting back on their feet after the massive flooding event that hammered our region. But on a positive note, we should be in for a fantastic Barramundi season and for years to follow.

So, I'm putting out an offer for Barramundi charters out of Cardwell on selected dates. They are, March the 9th, 10th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 2025. Charters on those dates can be for 3 anglers for the same minimum price of 2 anglers.

Pm me bookings.

It's that time again. The dreaded birthday of the Barra boat. I swear it felt like 3 kgs of paint has come off the baitboard alone. All those layers since 2016, then again all the memories it has seen since then too.

Wonder what the livery of 2025 is going to look like? Will have to wait and see!.
