I recently leaned agaist the pool fence watching the kids swim and noticed it's pannels had become loose. Closer inspection confirmed that after years of service, maintenance is required on all things in life. Whilst swimming pools bring relief from the heat and create family memories, they are also unfortunately associated with injuries and drownings. Look at your pool, make sure it's safe, has signage and know First Aid and CPR.

As the cooler months approach fire safety around the home becomes paramount. 43% of fire related fatalities during winter occur in the home. Before using heaters and electric blankets have them safety tested by a licenced assessor.

Some safety tips from firse services.
- Have adequate suitable somke alarms installed and tested regularly.
- Make sure you have 2 safe ways out of rooms throughout the house and they are practiced.
- Keep curtains, tablecloths and bedding away from heaters.
- Clean lint filters in cloth dryers regularly.
- Never leave naked flames or candles unattended.
- Keep matches and lighters stored out of young childrens reach.
- Keep fire blankets and extinguishers in easily accessible locations in the kitchen.
- Dont use flammable liquids to start firers.

Stay safe and warm this winter without the risks.
