Seven years ago I lost my best friend, the vivacious, loud, non stop talker Kathryn.

She left a huge gap in our lives and we knew life would never be the same.

In 2023 we raised $10,000 which sent three women and quite a few Cairns locals to the Ultimate Girls Week Away in far north Queensland and this year our goal is 10 we deserving women from around the world from raising $40,000 over the month of July.

As we are pulling everything together for UGWA (or uggg-waa as the Americans call it) 2024 I have been pulling together some of the thoughts of women who have attended.

Many of them make my eyes leak a little and I am filled with such excitement about what I am building.

There is one testimony in particular that touches my heart and that is from Caroline Smith from Perth, WA, just after the 2023 retreat she wrote -

'I've been home over a week now and the only word I can use to describe how I feel is transformed. Back in 2020 in Fiji, Liesel talked about the sacred circle of those closest to you. I said my sacred circle was empty, because everyone in it had died. Today my circle is full with more family than I knew I had, with a particularly close connection to my niece. I have stepped into the hole left in her life when my mother moved to Perth. And my sacred circle is wrapped up with the special connections I made at UGWA2023 and the whole UGWA tribe. The angst that I have felt since my husband died over twenty years ago has been replaced with abundant love. Thank you all for being part of that'.

To me that shows the power of what happens when we come together in such a special space - bring on 2024 I can't wait.
