These beautiful autumn days are perfect to take a trip to the Pilot Hill Arboretum and have a relaxing walk along the Alpine Ash Walk to view the forest sculptures that form part of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail.
There are so many beautiful day trips to take when you come and stay with us, this one is one of our favourites.

Let's talk accessibility. We are doing our best to make the Monarch accessible for everyone. One of the ways we can help if you have limited mobility is by making sure our ramps are in place when you arrive. This will help you move easily from the driveway straight into the house. Please contact us when you book if you have any questions about dimensions, floor plans or any other details that you might need to know to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Our aim is that you don't have to worry about the details.

If you are after an all-weather swimming spot, just up the road is the Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool. A great day out and why not explore a cave while you are there. You can find all the information you need at the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre (NSW National Parks) or at the Tumut Visitors Centre before you leave.

The school holidays are the perfect time to take the kids for a drive and explore the Laurel Hill/Tumbarumba region. The Pilot Hill Arboretum is a beautiful place to stop for a picnic and to wander among the trees.

We get a lot of potential guests ask if the Monarch is suitable for children? The answer is absolutely! We have toys, books, games, colouring books, cot, highchair and children's plates and cutlery. We hope we have thought of everything but if you have any questions before booking, please ask! The Monarch is also located across the road from Bila Park and a short walk along the riverwalk to the recently renovated Pioneer Park.

April and May are great months to visit Tumut and the Snowy Valleys. Book your stay now and come and enjoy some rest and relaxation amongst some of the best autumn colours you will find. There are plenty of flat easy walks close by to enjoy the river and to take life at a slower pace for a few days.

Did you know that the Tumut Art Society Inc. 66th Annual Art Show is open daily until Sunday the 7th of April? Located at The Fiveways Studio and Gallery on Tumut Plains Road.
Last year we commissioned local artist Maria Grandi to paint The Monarch for us after we purchased one of her small paintings at the Art Show.
It is well worth a visit to the art show, you never know what you might find!

We are pleased to be phasing out our single use toiletries. We spent a lot of time looking at our options but can now confirm we have the same great L'Occitane products but in a more sustainable, refillable size. L'Occitane En Provence are committed to reducing waste, ethically sourced, and many other good things and we know you will love them.

So many great options including drifting the Tumut River, walking and wading in the Kosciusko high country or cruising around in a power boat on Lake Eucumbene or Talbingo Dam. A great day out for all, from first timers to those with years of fly fishing experience.

We always sample anything that we recommend to guests, so on Friday we ventured up to Courabyra Wines for a wine tasting lunch. The weather, wines, view and food was all top notch. Do yourselves a favour when you stay with us and take a scenic drive to enjoy it for yourself. You can also view some of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail sculptures in the area including Haruyuki Uchida's, (Japan) striking 'Thinking Red' in prime position overlooking the vines.
