Sharing this post I received overnight of an awesome catch ! Seems we don’t need to get out to the 50m mark offshore to get a great snapper 😃. Well done Khris !

Hey all thought I’d send this in to you guys and ladies! I come up regularly to farms that I service here as a veterinary technician etc came out tonight for a fish with the young fella Kade and low and behold find ourselves at the little boat ramp at lavender point! I’m no fisherwoman so with a line weight I have no clue of a size 2 hook and two little ball sinkers tied in a weird knot landed a 66cm Snapper!! Sadly I don’t think here I can send a photo or even the video of landing it but be happy to send it to you if you’d like! No idea if it’s weight but Bruce (not sure of surname!) a local fisherman measured it up for me!
If you’d like photos and a little story I’d be glad to send it in! Catch of the year for me or my life! Because it was more luck than good judgment - oh ps little pippy and a bit of prawn
Be happy to send photos etc!
I think your local fishing club would get a kick out it
Cheers
Khris Hands

Pam is asking if some members could help and bring along a salad or dessert. Please let her know. Also let us know if you are attending to help with catering numbers
So prepare your floats , gather some w**d or maybe a nipper and try your luck catching a Blackfish.
Don't forget to send me fish details early if possible .
Many thanks ,see you all on Sunday.

Last weekend the Fishing Club held the November Goblet with Flathead the target goblet fish, with some members travelling to Eden for the weekend to enjoy a pleasant weekend away and hopefully some good fishing. Unfortunately the wind was a little strong at times making conditions a little unpleasant for fishing, although conditions were great on the Saturday morning with no swell or wind for those who made an early start. But the wind also blew at Tuross I believe. Eden Fishing Club invited us for dinner on Saturday night. We thank them for their hospitality.
Also we must congratulate the Black Hat team on their great win. Even if I may have forgotten to take my hat.
November Goblet was won by Scott Westbury catching a Sand Flathead at Eden 51cm worth
86.25pts.
Mens Lake and Estuary winner was Bruce Kennedy with a Blackfish 45cm worth 120.pts
Womens Lake and Estuary was won by Pam Alexander catching a Trevally 38cm worth 78.48pts.
Mens Outside was won by Gavin Robinson with a Salmon 56cm worth 95pts.
Womens Outside winner was Jeanie Dixon with a slightly bigger Salmon 58cm worth 100.pts.
No winners in the Rock and Beach categories.
Junior award went to Christopher Westbury who fished long and hard over the weekend with his dad and managed to catch a Sand Flathead 48cm worth 76.88pts.
Mystery Fish no. 13 Nannygai was not won'
Turkey of the Month was hotly contested, was it those who left their black hats at home. Or Scott who forgot to put the boat keys in and had to drive 40 klms back to get them. No it was awarded to Jeanie Dixon who went to the shops only to find the car next to her a little close. What was it you said Jeanie? The driver wound down his window to ask "would you like me to move". The kids in the back seat even wound down their window to see what was said. Oh how embarrassing Jeanie.
Don' t forget Presentation night Saturday November 30th. at 6pm at the Tuross Club ,cost is $30 per member. If you have not replied please let me know. Let's enjoy a great night.
Next Goblet weekend will be December 6th-7th-8th. The Goblet fish is Blackfish. It will be our Christmas BBQ , plus bring a wrapped gift to play our Chris Kringle game, valued about $10-$15.
Enjoy your fishing. regards the newly named 'MEASURE MASTER'.

FULL REPORT FROM COMPETITION SECRETARY:
Last weekend was the first Goblet competition for the current year, with the Goblet awarded to a non-golet category fish. Weather was nearly perfect for fishing with just a little rain on saturday.
For the weekend I recorded 45 fish by 9 members with an amazing 15 different species. Outside fishing is excellent at the moment, with a good number of fish being caught. The river is still slow but it won't be long before the fish start biting. I might be able to record a fish then.
The winner for the Non-Goblet award went to Allan Ladmore catching a Rainbow Trout. This must be the first time a Rainbow Trout has won this award and congratulations to Allan on his first goblet win. Allan's Rainbow Trout was 39cm worth 83.85pts.
Mens Lake and Estuary winner was Bruce Kennedy with an excellent Bream 45cm worth 163.4pts.
No women's winner for Lake and Estuary.
Mens Outside was won by David Backhouse with a Pigfish 38cm worth 91.88pts.
Women's Outside winner was Jeanie Dixon catching a Snapper 55cm worth 113.25pts. I did hear it was on Gavin's rod.
Mens Rock and Beach was won by Mike Bromfield with a Salmon 44.5cm worth66.25pts.
Women's Rock and Beach had no winner.
Junior prize went to Christopher Westbury catching a good Salmon in the lake at 45cm worth 67.5pts.
Mystery Fish no. 19 Snapper 38.2cm was won by Alison Skilton with Snapper 41.2cm.
Turkey of the Month went to Neil Alexander, I caught a seagull whilst fishing on the beach. The seagull tangled in my line. A very angry seagull trying to peck at me. Only solution was to put my jumper on the bird to quiet it down, finally untangling the line to set it free. Did I mention that I was also tangled up in the line around my legs and could not move.
Next Fishing Club Goblet competition is October 4th-5th-6th Measure In at the Tuross Club at 4pm. Daylight savings start that weekend.
Many thanks Neil Alexander Comp.Sec.

Last weekend finally saw some decent weather for our monthly Goblet competition. Being the last competition of our calendar year I had to get one day right. Saturday was a perfect day to wet a line. Outside conditions were perfect as was the lake. Water temperatures in the lake are still a bit cold and the fishing is quiet. Only a few fish were recorded from the lake. But we all enjoyed a nice day out on the water.
Unfortunately we had a few members absent however seven members recorded twenty-six fish with seven different species being caught.
August Goblet winner was Scott Westbury catching a Morwong 41cm. worth 74pts.
Mens Lake and Estuary winner was Mark Jackson with a Flathead 44.3cm. worth 44.86pts.
Womens lake and Estuary had no winner, plenty of women tried but fishing was quiet.
Mens Outside was won by Paul Skilton catching a Pigfish 36cm. worth 82.36pts.
Womens Outside winner was Alison Skilton catching a Snapper 42cm. worth 69.96pts.
Mens Rock and Beach was won by Scott Westbury with a Salmon 35.1cm worth 42.75pts.
Junior winner was Chris Westbury catching a Snapper 38cm. worth 56.24pts.
Turkey of the Month awarded to Scott and Chris Westbury. Whilst visiting New York they decide to go for a fish in Central Park." I watched youtube and saw Bass being caught in Central Park". Catching a train with their fishing gear arrive there to be told by the locals that no one fishes here anymore, there is no Bass. Well the youtube video was quite a few years old. Good try lads.
The new Goblet calendar year now kicks off with all fish recorded going to the new season.
September Goblet is scheduled for the 6th-7th -8th with Measure In at the Tuross Club at 2pm on the Sunday. Goblet is the highest scoring non goblet listed species. There are quite a few of different species on our list that can win. Hope to see you all next month.
I will be scheduling a new calendar for the upcoming season and will present it at the September Measure In BBQ.
Enjoy your fishing. Neil Alexander Competition Secretary.

Weather conditions were near to perfect for fishing, especially after last weekend's heavy rain. Unfortunately the ocean swell made rock fishing a little bit precarious with only a few members finding a safe place to fish off the rocks. Three good Drummer were recorded. Only a small field of members fished over the weekend as many members were absent,
Six members still managed to register 37 fish with an amazing 14 different species.
April Goblet winner was Bruce Kennedy who found where the Drummer were hiding and caught a winning Drummer of 42.5cm worth 133.33pts.
Mens Lake and Estuary was also won by Bruce catching another large Black Bream from Coila measuring 44cm worth abig 156.73pts.
No winner for the women's Lake and Estuary.
Mens Outside was won by a popular fishing personality, the " King of Morwong" himself,
Chris Hamer caught a huge Morwong 52cm worth 118pts. Good to see Chris make an appearance for the weekend.
No women's winner for Outside.
Mens Rock and Beach was won by Bruce Kennedy with his Drummer of 42.5cm worth 133.33pts.
No winner for women's Rock and Beach.
Junior prize was awarded to Chris Westbury catching an excellent Drummer 40.5cm worth
100pts. You came close Chris to winning.
Mystery Fish was no. 20, Snapper 55cm was won by the King of Morwong himself Chris Hamer with a Snapper 49cm . Rounding of a good weekend for Chris.
Turkey of the Month went to Big Gav and Jeanie. Taking their red hats away last weekend trying to claim a red hat black hat event. No it was not. Their hats spent the weekend in the freezer unknown to them. Losing your hat is very irresponsible, care must be taken.
Next Goblet weekend will be held May 10th-11th-12th Snapper is the goblet fish.
Sorry a mistake was made last week for the notice of the AGM. The AGM will be rescheduled to the 18th of August and this will also be the final Goblet fishing competition for our year. So please keep this date in mind.
Many thanks Neil Alexander Comp. Sec.

A few weeks ago the Tuross Fishing Club held the January Goblet monthly fishing competition with Whiting the Goblet fish. Weather was typical of our summer so far with humid and cloudy conditions and a spot of rain. The fishing was excellent with 62 fish recorded by 18 members with 13 different species of fish caught. Lake conditions are slowly clearing up but plenty of logs are still floating in the river so please take care whilst driving your boat. Outside saw a few members catch some good fish also.
January Goblet winner was Neil Alexander managing to catch a Whiting of 31cm worth 50.52pts. Whiting are still a bit scarce in the river, as not many were recorded.
Men's Lake and Estuary was won by Mike Bromfield catching a Salmon 48cm worth 75pts.
Women's Lake and Estuary winner was Bronwyn Westbury with an excellent Bream 38cm worth 116.71pts. Pam Alexander, just beaten by Bronwyn, managed to land a Salmon 60cm in the lake, about the largest Salmon I have seen in the river.
Men's Outside was won by Gavin Robinson with a Snapper 60cm worth129.9pts. Good fish Gav.
Women's Outside was won by Rachel Weatherby catching a Pigfish 37.2cm worth 88.7pts.
Men's Rock and Beach winner was Martin Sheather with a Salmon 60cm worth 105pts.
No winner for women's Rock and Beach.
Junior award was won by Christopher Westbury catching a Garfish 24.1cm worth 99.98pts. The haircut may have improved his fishing.
Mystery Fish was No. 14 Nannygai was won by David Backhouse who managed to catch a Nannygai 28cm.
Turkey of the Month was a toss up. Scott manages to break an expensive road by placing it in the wrong place. However it was awarded to Neil Alexander. Yes I had a big panic attack last week when I realised my good rod and STELLA was not in my rod rack."Where's Stella gone" was the cry. When realising I may have picked Stella up when returning Carol's rods after a day's fishing.
A quick phone call to Carol soon settled the heart rate when laughingly told me she had Stella.
This month’s Goblet competition will be held this coming February 9th-10th-11th with our target fish GARFISH. Hope to see you all next month. Happy fishing everyone till then.
Regards Neil Alexander Competition Secretary.
