Welcome to the Vanderlust family.

We finally did a thing today and bought a bus.

We are over the moon with this purchase and can’t wipe the smile off our faces. To say we are excited to build it and travel more is an understatement

How to do Burleigh in just one day.

Let it be known that there is so many great options here and I could easily fill a weeks itinerary.

Here’s a sample of how to Burleigh in a day.

1. Wake up early catch sunrise at Tumgum Lookout. Aka well… I’ll let your imagine decide when you get there 😉 Its abit rock near the top of Burleigh hill.

2. Rinse off with a surf if the tide and swell directions align you’re in for a real treat as this wave is pretty special.

3. No doubt by now you’ve developed quite the hunger. Let the crew at take care of you with an amazing fresh breakie and the treats… well they’re simply next level.

4. A stroll down James street is worthy to keep the mrs good vibes alive no doubt she can do some damage to the credit card down there.

5. I’d dare say you’d best skip lunch after over indulging for breakie, mosey on over to and try there delicious range of local beers it’s a good time.

6. Sunset from the is an absolute must, not only is the people watching entertaining but the view is sensational.

7. Before getting too carried away and settling in to a big night book a table at so that you won’t waste the entire next day the pizza is mind blowing and I’m sure you’ll appreciate it the next day.

8. Head back to the van tuck yourself in and enjoy a good nights rest in comfort.

Some of the feedback we’ve been having lately is that you don’t need to drive for hours on end to have an epic adventure. Taking the time to dig a little deeper in your own backyard is surprising what you’ll find and how much you’ll actually enjoy it.

Did someone say ocean side, 360 degree views and an apartment on wheels with ducted aircon ? ⁠

Our Sandy is from what we've seen one of the first toyota hiaces where the roof lining has been removed and replaced with VJ and kept the ducted air con thru out. ⁠
⁠
It was trying times to make this happen as most people just get rid of the aircon system all together as its alot easier. (there was a time when i wanted to just rip it out myself but we couldnt let it get the better of us) ⁠
⁠
However we figure this is going to be very important on those hot summer days to cool the van down quickly just run the van and aircon for a few extra minutes to get it nice and cool. With dual sirocco fans its a pleasure to spend some quality time with Sandy. ⁠

For anyone thats ever spent great lengths in van would know that its not the size of the space you have to live in, its how you can make it all work. ⁠

Believe it or not this floor plan took me 8 months of living in it with nothing but milk crates and framing timber to design. I like to think of it as a never ending game of tetris or rubik's cube.⁠

Sunsets are best seen from our rooftop deck (also known as The Bevy Balcony). Countless sunrise and sunsets have been enjoyed from the roof of our campers. ⁠

Did you know we've been custom making them for the last few years on the Gold Coast ?⁠ Were starting a new project for all things we’ve found difficult to find like these platforms, storage boxes, spare wheel carriers etc. Let’s just say we’ve got abit in the pipeline to share with you soon to give you a better vantage 😉😉
