The only way to stay with us from Feb to Easter is if you join Roaring 40s Kayaking for an incredible week of exploring our coastline by kayak. Great to see how Roaring 40s Kayaking brings in the “right” sort of tourists who come and explore our amazing coastline and offshore islands, leaving no trace.

Most importantly they offer guests a respectful introduction to the community by engaging with local people and businesses in a way which is truly what regenerative tourism is all about.

It is no wonder they are a multi gold award winning tourism operation, welcomed in the communities they operate in.

The Roaring 40s Kayaking kayaking season is booked out for 2023 but the good news is the 2024 season for Flinders Island (based at our shacks) has just opened. Yes you really do need to book more than a year in advance!

We now have a St John Ambulance - Tasmania defibrillator on site at our Flinders Island property which will provide extra peace of mind for guests. In a cardiac arrest minutes count and while we hope it never gets used, it may one day save a life.

There are several defibrillators available at various locations on Flinders Island but none close to Sawyers Bay.

We have installed the unit in an accessible place so that it will be available for the whole community.

Many thanks to the crew from Friends of Fisher Island who are helping us make a start on the enormous job of regenerating Little Dog island. This is mirror bush which has become a big problem on the outer islands. In the future we may even offer discounted stays at Sawyers Bay Shacks for anyone keen to help out on this regenerative tourism project. Who’s in?!
