Japanese Convenience Stores or Combini's are something else.
They are so much more than a convenience store! They have everything from pea flavoured chips to phone accessories, sushi to socks and from breakfast foods to bourbon! ( and everything in between )
I spent a lot of time dining at their fine establishments - there are so many - and unlike Australia , they are so affordable and their food - especially the steamed buns - are pretty amazing!

One of most unique attractions is the Former Japanese Navy Headquarters.
In the last years of WWII, 450m of tunnels, 20m below the surface, were carved out of a hill in Naha, to create what was a key element in Japan's defence effort against US forces.
In the last months of the war it doubled as an air raid shelter housing up to 4000 people.
Today, nearly 80years later, it is a monument to peace and a stark reminder to the planet of a past and a time the world never needs to return to.
