Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with hope, joy and happiness.
I usually share a picture of me in my travels, but this year, I would like to share one of my favourite travel memories. Here is a photo of a busker in Queenstown from August 2011 from one of my trips when I was at a crossroads of my career in travel and a little bit in life. One morning, I sat with a hot choccie by the lake and listened to this man play classical music on his old rustic piano for a few hours on my own and proceeded to forget what was worrying me and enjoy. I have followed this man AJ Hickling, aka Evolving Rhythms, on social media over his travels and career. I have told every friend and client travelling through to ensure they stopped to see if he was playing and not just to walk by. Sit and listen with a warm drink of choice. Sadly, yesterday, the news came through that AJ had succumbed to illness. It is a reminder to make sure we enjoy every moment as he did, follow our dreams (small or large) and never forget those travel life-changing memories that this was. In the hours I sat by the lake, my life was changed, a weight was lifted, and I continued to forge on in my career. To this day, I love what I do, am grateful for all the joy I get in working in travel, for my lovely clients who have followed me, for being lucky enough to run my own company and for all the fantastic opportunities that come my way in my current business of which there is many. I also have a better camera now!
