WTF. A full scale replica of the historical stonehenge in the UK Right here in Esperance WA.
Couldn't believe it, so it was a must visit.
Built and commisioned by a farmer in 2011 the complete assembly consists of 137 stones quarried from Esperance pink granite. THE LARGEST STONES WEIGHING 38 - 50 Tonnes each.
The structure is aligned with the summer solstice sunrise- Esperance WA.
Have a read .
Amazing structure, great to visit.

Was a windy day as we arrived in Esperance so it was a good day for a little day trip out to lucky Bay and surrounds through Cape Le Grand national park.
Beautiful white beaches and aqua clear waters, so pristine are the beaches here just a shame it was so windy and cool to enjoy some sun.
Surprisingly we came accross a lucky Bay brewing Co.
Surprise surprise haha. Beers were great.

A visit to the past - A time when Whale oil was a valuable commodity.
Thank God times have changed and the beautiful ocean mammals have returned from the Brink of disaster.
Slowly Slowly the whales are feeling safe and returning to Albany and Australia's coast lines to give birth to their young in pristine waters.
Quite a daunting emotional visit to our past.
Oldest existing whaling station although now a museum exhibits the whaling days of WA.
SUPPERB DISPLAY of whaling ships, whale oil processing, whale skeletons and much more.
Biggest display and collection of Australian sea shells I've ever seen.
A magnifecent display of whale bone and whale Teeth carved and etched by whalers an artistic process called scrimshaw, where an artist would sketch on the bone or tooth and then etch into the bone with crude tools to create an ever lasting picture, usually seafaring of ships, whales or loved ones.

I purposely left out the pictures of the hunt, and the process of getting the oils it was a very gruelling process for sure.
Again, Thank God times have changed and the beautiful ocean mammals have returned from the Brink of disaster.

On our way from The farm in Narembeen to Albany on the WA South coast we traveld a section of road called the Tin Horse Highway .
A fun 15km stretch of road were a lot of local farmers have built horse statues from 44 gallon drums and bits and pieces from around the farm.
Some very creative names for their statues.
We enjoyed stopping and taking a pic of a few of them.
Enjoy.

Fantastic opportunity to delve into Australia's oldest prison history and some of the shady characters that spent many gruelling years here with torturous treatment and hangings from the gallows.
Quite an experience walking the halls, peering into now empty cells, mess halls, exercise yards , the cat of nine tails whipping post and the spooky silence of the gallows .
They sure did it tough in here.
Certainly no liberties .
A must visit when in freemantle.

We took a visit to the Perth Mint where they no longer mint coins it's more a museum and gold depository however it was very interesting and contains Australia's largest coin - A 1 tonne solid Gold coin and a eye popping display of gold nuggets, jewlery and historical artefacts, they also do a gold pouring demonstration and you get to find out your weight in gold value..
Needless to say I'm worth a lot more than Tammy haha.
Great experience. A must do while in Perth city.

A short drive from Albany theres a Treetop walk built high up in the giant trees, was quite a breathtaking experience and the down below walking through the base of the forest you got to appreciate the true size of these ancient giants.
Stopped into a nice winery on the way back to Albany,
Fantastic day out.

Amazing landscape , a wave like formation carved from solid granite over millions of years of harsh weather. Quite mind blowing to see and climb.
Back in the day settlers built a crude bund wall from cement and stone around the top of the rock to channel the rainfall into a man made reservoir dam for future drinking water.
They also blasted and cut granite slabs for building stone dwellings. Amazing.

WOW What an experience .
We've just had 2 weeks helping out on a wheat farm in the outback town of Narembeen in the WA Wheat belt.
Learned so much and gained experience and wonderful memories. From driving tractors, quad bikes, harvest chaser bins , riding in the harvester, loading Silos, field bins, chasing sheep, catching yabbies, making sausages and collecting eggs.
Fantastic time helping our farmer friends ( or hindering them )
A farmers life is a hard slog , never ending from daylight to dark when the weather and timing is right it's go go go.
Thanks so much Woody and Sam for allowing us to experience the days in the life on the farm we had a blast building memories together ###

Never to pass up an opportunity to learn more about our favourite delicacy from the WA ocean.
We spied a WA Rock Lobster factory that just so happened to have a lobster restaurant and beach side bar attached.
After a factory tour we enjoyed some fruits of their labour.
When in WA you just gotta do it yummo - Hey we just drove a dusty desert , time for a coldie.

We took the opportunity to visit the Pinnacle Desert just south of Cervanties on the WA turquoise coast.
The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements. The Pinnacles range in height and dimension - some stand as high as 3.5m!
Incredible to drive through them on a designated sandy track weaving through the eery statues was a great experience.
