SteamRanger Heritage Railway presents: The Southern Lights Special

Our Heritage three car “Red-Hen” set will be decorated with external lights with a Christmas theme together with internal decorations! This experience will be sure to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Wednesday 21st, Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd December 2022.

The Southern Lights Special will depart Goolwa at 8:15pm and run at a leisurely pace non- stop to Victor Harbor, stopping between Port Elliot – Victor Harbor to allow passengers to take photos of the sunset (weather permitting!); arriving at Victor Harbour around 8:55pm.

At Victor Harbor, a local band will play Christmas Carols whilst passengers have the opportunity of taking “Selfies” and photos with the train.
Father Christmas will join the train at Victor Harbor, handing out some goodies on the return journey.

The Southern Lights Special will depart at 9:30pm and run non-stop to Middleton. The train will stop at this intermediate location allowing passengers the opportunity to detrain whilst the train (which will be bright with Christmas colour!) undertakes a “run-by” allowing customers to take photos. Once passengers have re- joined the train passengers will be taken to Goolwa; arriving around 10:15pm!

This experience is one of a kind, a first for our railway!

Good news! Our hard working Mechanical Services team have advised us that Rx224 will be returning to traffic for Cockle Train services from tomorrow! (Thursday 14th).

Join us aboard as we travel between Goolwa and Victor Harbour. Tickets are available from the station on day of travel, no pre booking required.
