Take a wander through our parks, gardens and trails and you’ll find art that surprises, delights and tells a story.
We’re so lucky to have such rich history right here in the Loddon Shire 🏡
Tucked away on the edge of Tarnagulla and Llanelly, sits Bell’s Cottage – a beautiful stone home built in 1937 by WW1 veteran Herbert Bell. He gathered stones by bike and hand-cut local ironbark timber to bring it to life.
Now empty but standing strong, it’s a quiet tribute to true grit, determination and Aussie spirit.
Next time you’re in the Tarnagulla region, head to Llanelly to admire the craftsmanship and soak up a piece of local history.

The Loddon Valley is a unique and wonderful part of Victoria to visit and explore, blessed with rich natural beauty, friendly locals and a real sense of connection to its history and the environment.
From significant indigenous sites to early European pastoral settlements and relics of gold rush, there is plenty of history to immerse yourself in. Today the Loddon Valley is predominantly rural, with its population spread among a number of towns with plenty of open space in between offering numerous National and State Parks to explore, not to mention the heart of the region, the majestic Loddon River.
Loddon Valley’s many small towns offer character and charm all their own, from Bridgewater on Loddon, Inglewood, Eddington, Tarnagulla, Laanecoorie and Newbridge in the south, through Dingee, Wedderburn, Korong Vale, Serpentine and Mitiamo, and further north to Boort and Pyramid Hill.
These are just a few of the many activities you can enjoy. The Loddon Valley offers a base for visiting large areas of central and northern Victoria, and can easily be reached by road from Melbourne, Bendigo or Mildura via the Calder Highway, or Echuca and the other Murray River towns by the Loddon Valley Highway.
Covering an area of 6700 square kilometres, the region is well known for its natural attractions including rivers, lakes, State and National Parks and nature reserves.
The region includes many attractions that offer visitors an experience in unhurried holidaying, whether for an extended stay or just a brief visit. Sit and fish on the Loddon River, explore a National Park, visit a winery, fossick for gold or take in the historical streetscapes.
