After 24 years of unforgettable outback adventures, we have concluded our public camel rides as of 28 November 2024. It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re so thankful to all our wonderful guests, partners and the Alice Springs community for their support over the years. 💛

Since 2000, we’ve proudly been a part of Alice Springs tourism, offering camel rides through the stunning valley of White Gums Station, with the beautiful West MacDonnell Ranges as our backdrop. Whether it was a romantic sunset ride, a family outing or a bucket-list experience, we’re honoured to have shared these magical moments with you. 🐪✨

As we realign our business, our love for camels and the outback remains strong, and we look forward to exploring new opportunities ahead.

📍184 years ago today the 12th October 1840 the first camel was introduced to Australia. The first camel to land was the sole survivor of a shipment of nine ordered from Tenerife in the Canary Islands by the Phillips brothers. 🐪🐪🐪
They were shipped aboard the ‘SS Appoline’ and landed at Port Adelaide on October 12th 1840.
This camel became known as ‘Horricks Camel’ and was named after Explorer John Ainsworth Horricks ( 1818-46), a pioneer pastoralist and explorer. Horrocks made use of the camel when he led an expedition to explore the country between Port Augusta and Lake Torrens. The party included artist S.T. Gill an unpaid draftsman whom drew the drawing below.
