Lad is a 15.2hh thoroughbred gelding. 10 years old. Very quiet easy going gelding, great to handle and quiet to ride. Can be taken out on his own, or in a group with no issues. Does not require lunging before riding. Has potential to be a serious dressage prospect. Has had some experience jumping, potential to go further. Has been on several outings with no problems, to dressage days, jump day, clinics and trail riding. He is good to float, shoe, clip and worm and has absolutely no nasties (bolt, buck, kick, bite). Lad would also make a hunter/hack prospect and is eligible for equimillions later this year. No beginners.

I am very grateful and I am sure all our agistees are too .
A dry arena to ride in today, a dam which filled up over night from half full to full , and paddocks which whilst wet , are draining due to the many drains we have dug over the past 20 years.
With over 130ml of rain our flat property is doing incredibly well, serving the horses and their owners.

Hey horse girl…
It’s okay if you have to take a rest.
It’s okay if you had the longest day ever, you’re running on 5 cups of coffee, you’re sitting in traffic, you’re at your wits end and trying to get to the barn before the sun goes down…. And you start to think maybe you should just go straight home instead.

It’s okay if you are getting over an illness, or an injury, you’re having a bad pain day, or your mental health isn’t in the best spot and you’re thinking… I don’t want to go to the barn today.

It’s okay if you have had a full day at work, chasing kids and adults, completing school projects, work projects, and your horses are with you at home and the barn chores get done but not much else.

Your barn can be your favorite place, and you can still need a 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒚.

Your horse doesn’t want to see you rushed, in a bad mood, sick or weak, or hurting and stumbling. Your horse wants to see you healthy, happy, and ready to give him or her all of your attention.

You don’t need to be everything to everybody every second of every day.

If your body is telling you to rest, listen to it… every day looks different 🖤

A casual position has become available at our property at Williamtown to assist our handy person.
So if you like to work outdoors in a farm environment this could be a great job for you.

Some of the tasks involve
raking , Pressure cleaning ,
emptying wheelbarrows,
Painting (fences and farm buildings) W**d spraying.

We use quads and tractors to assist us complete some of our tasks so any experience in using this machinery would be advantageous.

This position would suit a mature person who is reasonably fit and strong and is looking to supplement their income or is a semi retired person.

Both male and female are welcome to apply.

The successful person must be reliable, motivated and able to work unsupervised and be able to follow directions.

The work is available 3-5 days each week for 3 - 5 hours per day.
The work is available during fine weather.

Encantador horses are showing their pearly white smiles after a day with dentist Ebony from Ebony Dashwood Equine Dental Service. We can absolutely recommend Ebony. She is well qualified with BAEDT/ BEVA / BVDA Qualified FdSc Equine Dentistry training.
Fabulous dentist using both hand and power tools with a written report on the teeth and …., so much more economical than others.
Poppy got in on the act today and was able to check teeth under Ebony’s guidance.
A long day but a great day.

We seek a farm assistant who is handy !
Jack of all trades and master of none required on equine property.
Some of the tasks include raking, hosing and pressure cleaning, plumbing, fencing, digging and opening up drains, painting, driving tractor slashing and ploughing the riding arenas , w**d spraying,and assisting property owner with light building. We will train the right person.
Active and mature person only need apply.
20 hours per week . Days and times are negotiable.

No point in whinging!
We need to follow incey wincey spider’s lead and wait for the sunshine to dry up all the rain.
Like everyone else our paddocks are wet and muddy! There is no such thing as the highly sort after “ dry paddock”.
At least we are resting paddocks now to regrow a good base for next winter and the heat plus the rain will create wonderful pasture.
So for now we just be grateful that this property does not flood and that the drains both Kim and Tab ( and now Poppy ) have dug help remove water from our paddocks.

Sad news tonight.
A pony we had the pleasure of owning, who carried many people to success in dressage including many championships , who helped teach many, and who had a heart as big as phar lap, crossed the rainbow bridge last night. He had been in semi retirement with his original owners after he finished his work with us at Encantador. We will always remember you Tweeks or as he was known at Alexander Park
RM Miracle, We named him in honour of our vet Robyn Mather, who worked tirelessly to save him when he became very ill soon after his purchase by us. He was certainly a miracle and one of those very very special horses …. A truly 1 in a million. Rest easy old man. You will never be forgotten

Fencing work continues at Encantador with the old front fence removed. We are getting ready to welcome someone new foals so the thwenty plus year old fence needed to go. The old fence has been removed, the holes are dug, the gravel is in them and the new posts are being painted. The side fence has been rewired with a new strainer post put in. Thanks to our stable fairy Kimberly for her tireless efforts and never ending energy and to Glenn who is also assisting Kim.

As improvements continue at Encantador, the round yard also had a facelift today, and is now very fashionable, sporting classic black rubber, with overtones of gunmetal grey trim. Oh so fashionable.
Well, at least I have a sense of humour!

A NEW START WITH AN OLD HAND

After nearly 4 years Gaylene has taken back the reins at Encantador assisted by husband Glenn and son Timothy.
( Tim is the new and Gaylene is the old and poor Glenn doesn’t have a choice !)

There’s a bit of work that has been happening here at Encantador

In the past 2 weeks we have shovelled nearly ten square metre of crusher dust into the road way down to the paddocks so that we have easier access in and out of paddocks for both machinery, people and horses.
This is a work in progress , as holes have formed and need to be filled but more importantly maintained. They have formed especially this year with all the rain we have experienced, but it’s well on its way to being sorted !

Glenn and Gaylene have been cleaning the agistee feed shed and have guerneyed it from top to bottom. Sarah has assisted and painstakingly removed all sticky material from old horse name signs still on the walls.

We are relaying a crusher dust floor, laying rat baits, removing old pallets and having sign written names on the walls.

There are so so many other jobs being undertaken which will add to the property looking smart including rewiring of and straightening of fences, building new fences , plumbing leaks, and fence painting.

The big machinery shed is also having a total clean out and clean with guerney too.

But it all takes time and of course money.

Don’t forget the two arenas and the round yard need grooming each week, the Poo being removed and then there’s the w**d spraying too.

Of course many of these tasks are weather dependant and cannot be performed if it is wet or windy.

And lastly we are rebuilding damaged paddocks by filling holes, fertilising and watering. Not overstocking is very very important and Paddock management is an essential part of horse health for worm management .

Our mission statement for the agistment at Encantador is “ look after the land and the land will look after you “

ENCANTADOR LESSONS ARE EXPANDING!

We are pleased to introduce Tori Stokes.

Tori started her horsie career at Encantador 14 years ago having lessons twice a week. Eventually, Tori started to compete in the show ring, and specifically developed an interest in competing .

She also had an interest in harness horses. Whilst she can drive “ pacers “ and mini trotters, she really loves to retrain and re home Standardbreds ( racing harness horses. )
Tori currently works in the equestrian industry and has been teaching several students but now feels it is time to expand at Encantador.

Tori will be assisted by Ebony who was also trained at Encantador and has been assisting Tori for many years.

Tori has already started taking bookings for Tuesdays and Fridays, and will be offering a set of 4 half hour private lessons on our Encantador school horses for $80.

That’s $20 for a half hour private lesson which is incredible value !

This is a special introductory offer for new students only at Encantador, between the ages of 5 and 12 years , and the lessons will be available from Tuesday 16th November, December and January .
( covid rules apply)

Christmas vouchers will also available for those who would like to give the gift of learning to ride to a eager youngster.
