BRINGING SEXY BACK
Have you a favourite South Coast season? I bet you’re thinking of Autumn, with the warmth of the days but a bit of chill of night, and beautiful colours in the garden, am I right?
And while Autumn might be our prettiest time of year, it Winter I’m hanging for.
We take a guest break in Winter and that means long days in the garden getting ready for Spring and oodles of time with my boys 🐄.
More excitingly for you guys, this is the time we undertake most of the Jerrymara PROJECTS 👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉
Last year we re-roofed and re-decked ( not sexy but needs must). We planted 4 trees and made 2 garden beds ( getting warmer).
And THIS year, This Winter, its Interiors’ turn. Did you hear me, INTERIORS!!!!!!!
Now that’s damn sexy!! ❤️❤️❤️

TWO THIRDS of our guests in 2022 were returning guests or referred by guests.
Which is just as well cos I’m very slack around profile raising.
After years in Corporate the last thing I wanted was Jerrymara to be a purely transactional biz- where’s the fun in that I ask?!
To have a guest want to return is the ultimate goal - my guests are the very bestest!!! ❤️❤️💕

Know Your Hosts, or Who’s Who?

On returning to Jerrymara after check out, one of us wanders around the garden to see what the plants are doing, and the other beelines to the BBQ to see how it was left.
As we’re so busy one of us thinks our pricing is right, and the other reiterates ( often) that it must be too cheap. Or at least we should enforce a BBQ cleaning charge???
One of us might muse how many nice people we’ve met who’ve stayed with us, and the other murmurs dreamily of that one time the BBQ was left unused.
One of us is ideally suited to hosting and the other, well, is not.
Any ideas? ☺️

The Bad, the Good and the Very Sad

We lost our Super Host status recently 😫 ( the Bad)) as we didn’t meet their required number of bookings in a given period.
We simply have so many returning or referred guests that Booking Site guests are in the minority.
( we’re fully booked to Autumn next year which is now going fast) This is the Good ☺️

And now the Very Sad
as we said goodbye to our old boy Jetty recently. It feels important to mention his passing as he was part of the triumvirate in our Jerrymara journey. The most useless part, for he was a useless dog. But he was our useless dog and we adored him.

We’re camped out in our top paddock for now, until our new home is finished. This is where we’ll build a dear little pavilion for our guests to visit and watch the sky change with sundowners in hand.

It feels like a holiday living up here , especially when the awning is out and the weather is nice . We’ve only lost the portaloo once in a big wind, but whenever the weather closes in I’m fearful of a ( literal) s**t storm raining down! 💩🤡
Soooo, I think that’s just about all I have to tell, hmmm let me think….
Oh yes….

Autumn , inside.
It’s wild, wet and woolly on the South Coast. We’ll get to 200mm rain or more it seems . While our dams are overflowing and lawns are pretty soggy, I’ve stacked dry firewood and the most delicious wines and bubbles waiting for our special guests. There’s beautiful Autumnal flowers in the sweetest urns ( thank you !) and candles waiting to be lit.

The lovely lady arriving has just sent me a message that she has been in tears, hers is the very last tiny wedding we’re holding here and she’s terribly worried about the state of the grounds for her special day on the weekend.
I’m not worried, no way will Jerrymara let her down ❤️

In a holidaze 🤩
Last Summer, celebrating a special birthday, beautiful Alisse spent a weekend with us swimming, sun baking, playing tennis ( how good the whites!), hiking, cooking Pizza, dining under the stars at night and in the shade of the Pear Trees by day ( enjoying a beautiful catered celebratory meal by )
We are fully booked for all of this year, but if you’re quick there’s still 2 Summer weekends in February available.....giddy up my friends

When the juice is worth the squeeze

A quick walk just now to feed the fishies and check on the new plants’ progress around the fountain .
I sometimes , like now, feel weary and our chores seem relentless.
Always, always though, it’s worth it and I pinch myself that this wonderful place is ours 💚

If you follow our Insta, you will know that the beautiful sculpture in the dam is a work of Jane Dawson, Mum of Katrina Dawson. I love it. The rocks in the dry stone walls were all quarried on the property, and the walls were all placed by hand, rock by rock. It amazes me! I’m not sure why a bunch of them ended up in the dam, but I can’t wait for them to be gone. Glyn says I’m unreasonable and I have to wait for the water to drop and the walls are dry enough to get an excavator in. I guess that makes sense 🧐🤨🤔 But still 😉 📽 @jamiechilcote 🙌🏻
