A great trip last week through the Flinders Ranges and NSW Corner Country. So much to see and enjoy in this beautiful part of the world. Keep an eye out for our upcoming tours around the south coast and another big one in the planning for April next year.

Another great day to finish off our Flinders Ranges and Corner Country trip!! Our day didn’t go as planned due to the wet weather so instead of heading to White Cliffs and to Goodwood Station we headed down the black top to Broken Hill. We stopped at the tool tree at the Henry Roberts way turn off and the Packsaddle roadhouse. Had lunch at Eirowrie creek and made our way to the Living Desert sculptures before heading back to Silverton Hotel. We capped the day with a fantastic viewing of the sunset at Mundi Mundi plains lookout. What a great way to cap off another Sundown Adventure. Thank you very much to everyone that came along. TubandCindy Buchanan and Bruce and Robyn……your support is very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you on another Sundown Adventure!

Corner country adventure continued!!
Bit of a shorter day today. We started our day at Cameron Corner and made our way along Cameron Corner road past the new Bilby and Bandicoot statues to Tibooburra. Smoko at Becks waterhole. Lunch at the Family Hotel and a visit to the park with a replica of the boat Charles Sturt carted on his exploration trip to the “inland sea”. Travelled down the Silver City to the historic gold mining town of Milparinka. Raining at Milparinka……not great for our plans tomorrow.……will see what happens overnight.

Outback adventuring today. 👌 Breaky at Lyndhurst and up the Strezlecki Track. Dropped into the Blanchewater ruins for morning tea and a visit to the Montecillina bore. Lunch under a tree in the dry Strezlecki creek bed at Merty Merty then enjoyed the roller coaster ride over the sand dunes to Cameron Corner. 👍🏻 Another day of adventure!!

Another couple of days of adventure!! Climbing Griselda Hill at Arkaroola, flying over Lake Eyre into William Creek and back to Arkaroola, exploring the 4wd tracks around Arkaroola, visiting Italowie Gap where RM Williams learnt to make boots, Occabolina Outstation, Nepabunna and Copley bakery for a Quandong Pie. Kangaroo fillet and salad for lunch in Copley. Fixing car batteries, driving past Leigh creek mine site to Lyndhurst, visiting Talc Alf and the Farina ruins before dinner back at Lyndhurst pub. Time for a rest before heading up the Strezlecki track to Cameron Corner tomorrow. Life is good!!

We left Silverton yesterday morning and headed down the Barrier Hwy to Yunta. We stopped at the SA / NSW border for a few photos before fueling up in Yunta and airing down, ready to head north on the dirt roads to Arkaroola. We stopped at Waukaringa ruins for pulled pork burgers for lunch and continued past Frome Downs Station to Arkaroola. The road was in good condition and the rain followed us all the way……thankfully we only had a bit of light sprinkling. Once we arrived at Arkaroola we watched the feeding of the yellow footed rock wallabies before we had our dinner in the restaurant. Night time brought a storm in from the south west and lightning, wind and rain for a couple of hours. We woke to a bright clear day ready for more adventure.

A great start to our trip today!! We met at 9am and started with a visit to the miners memorial in Broken Hill. Then off to an underground mine tour at Day dream mine at Silverton with scones, jam and cream and a cuppa afterwards. Made our way to Silverton for lunch and a visit to the extensive Silverton Museum before arriving at the Silverton hotel. Off to the Mundi Mundi plains lookout for the sunset views and back to Silverton Hotel for dinner. Looking forward to heading west into the Flinders Ranges in the morning.

What a great trip!!....and we somehow got very lucky with the weather. Clear sunny day, very little dust on the tracks, challenging steep terrain with a few water crossings and a great bunch of people. What more could you ask for? We made our way into the Bendethera Valley via Little Sugarloaf road and Bendethera Fire trail and back out to Araluen Road via Merricumbene fire trail. Thanks again to everyone that joined us for the trip. Hope you come back for many more.

Short bike trip today. 👍🏻 Started in the Illawarra and headed up Macquarie Pass to Moss Vale, along the Highland Way to Marulan, down the road to Bungonia and turned west to Goulburn. Stopped at the 1924 Motorbike Grand Prix memorial (worth a stop if you’re in the area) then through Goulburn to Taralga and the pub for lunch. Headed east after lunch through Bannaby and the Swallowtail Pass and Canyonleigh and back home via Moss Vale. If you’ve got a few spare hours there is always an adventure waiting…👌

During mid January we had a weekend getaway in the Blue Mountains area and followed the Caves to Caves trail. On the Friday night we stayed at the Hampton Halfway hotel and on Saturday morning we ventured into the Millionth Acre reserve, Bowtells swinging bridge, Kanangra Walls and across the Kowmung River to Dingo Dell. What a beautiful area!! So much to see and explore. On Sunday we started at the Big Trout motel in Oberon and drove into the old mining town of Yerranderie. We looked at the old buildings and imagined what the living conditions would have been like. We then drove back out to Range Firetrail and followed it down to Wombeyan Caves before heading back home late in the afternoon. It was a great weekend exploring yet another beautiful part of our country. Contact us if you’re keen to explore this area too. We’ll be arranging a few trips through this area in the coming months.

We have a single day tag along tour available on the 25th of February 2023. We will be travelling into the Bendethera Valley within the Deua National Park. The drive is along steep fire trails with 3 creek crossings and while there is no need for previous four wheel driving experience, you will need a four wheel drive with low range. Starting in the picturesque township of Moruya, we will travel from sea level up to 1000m elevation (with a couple of lookouts along the way) and back down to 275m into the Bendethera Valley. Once in the valley we will have the opportunity for a swim, fish or even go on a hike to enjoy the natural surroundings of the valley. We will enjoy a delicious lunch before making our way back out of the valley and returning to Moruya. What a great day trip into the Bendethera valley today!! Beautiful location, perfect weather and a great bunch of people!! We headed into the valley via Little Sugarloaf Road and Bendethera Fire Trail. We stopped at Hanging Mountain lookout, made it across 3 river crossings and had a very tasty lunch on the banks of the river. We then made our way back to Moruya and included a stop at Plumwood fire tower. Make sure you book a spot in our next tour and you can join in the adventure.

MadMatt is 100% correct. We all need to play our part by respecting other people’s property. We all need to be aware of the example we set for anyone who might be watching us. When it’s comes to Four wheel driving…..It’s ok to have fun, it’s ok to enjoy yourself. It’s ok to challenge yourself…..but you must do it safely and with respect. We use our four wheel drives to access areas of Australia to enjoy everything this country has to offer. If we don’t respect the areas we travel within we will soon be denied access….it’s happening now. Let’s all play our part and continue our activities with care for the natural environment and respect for everyone. Safe travels.
