An early morning walk in the Bluff State Forest to visit these beautiful plants again. 🙂 I watched the sun rise over the limbs of a pink barked lemon scented gum, listened to the kookaburras and was eventually chased off my view-of-the-Herberton-ranges rock by a couple of cicadas awakening next to me.

Thanks to daily thunderstorms the property has been transformed this December into emerald green paddocks, the bottle brushes have all flowered at once, Flaggy Creek is running fast and the dam is full :)

We were excited to see two tree kangaroos on the property and get some actual footage of one of them in action. Enjoy 😊

We love the way the branches of this tree are curved. I call them our squiggly trees but you might know them as Swamp Box or Swamp Turpentine - lophostemon suaveolens. They are common along the creek bank. Of an evening they are bustling with the activity of what seems like hundreds of small birds swooping and chasing one another through the branches. You could lose an hour or more just watching them :)

Exploring our backyard this morning. We have the Bluff State Forest on our doorstep and we think it is absolutely stunning. There are a couple of fire trails/tracks for keen walkers we are happy to guide you to. Take your camera if you love native Australian trees, shrubs and flowers that flourish in their own unique habitat here.

Inside the cabin, kitchen/dining/living space combined. Giant window in lieu of television screen for the daytime which is very busy outside with birds visiting a bottle brush in bloom (just outside of view in this pic) at the moment and fireplace for the evening.

You can get both Optus/Telstra reception at the cabin if you can't be out of range the whole time.

Hello! Happy days in Wondecla again after a wet and miserable first three quarters of the year, September finds the sun shining but the nights are still beautiful and cool.

After some fairly dramatic life events Tim & I have decided to have a proper go at our rural retreat offering Flaggy Creek Cabin for weekender rentals through Stayz and soon setting up campsites on the property through Hipcamp.
