Today I was a guest on ABC Melbourne breakfast radio talking about me stopping a theft, while the same night my bicycle was stolen. And then I accidentally left the building with my security pass which I think I was supposed to return. This is why the ABC has no budget. Oops. Anyway, the final cheap Tuesday is $15 tomorrow to my show. Please come. 6 nights left. And then I'm retiring from comedy.

To all my valued patrons on the VIPVAN, I'm making my annual pilgrimage to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival
As many of you know, I also perform stand-up comedy *follow Marcus Ryan - Comedian for full details. ;)
I will be performing 12 nights with my own show starting 9th April. My venue is only 40 seats capacity so if you would like to come along, I'd love to have you in, but please pre-book to guarantee a seat. Considering I have 11 seats on the bus and have had hundreds of you on board, I imagine if a group of 10 wanted to come we could fill up a few shows pretty quick! It would mean a great deal to me if you did want to come that you came in the first week, it really does help spread word of mouth. After several years in the same venue, I've moved next door to a fancy little cocktail bar! There'll be 'Cheeky' cocktail specials in the show as well as some cheeky merch and the odd special guest on the show. Limited capacity (40 seats), do yourself and me a favour, please pre-book to guarantee a seat.
It has been a tough festival already this year for many independent artists with low numbers and cancelling shows.
I'd really like it if you could please SHARE this. TAG your friends. Invite friends and pre-book! Preferably in the first few days and week to get some word of mouth.

THANK YOU POST:
I'd like to say a huge thank you to all of those who supported me both via $ donations and messages as well as the local paper South Gippsland Sentinel-Times, ABC Gippsland radio and the local Wonthaggi Ymca, Swimming Pool giving me access to swim for Laps for Life ReachOut Australia in March.
As a non regular swimmer, I set a target of swimming 20km & $1,000 donations for the month towards awareness and support for youth su***de and mental health.
By the 18th March I'd reached both. I averaged 2km per session.
I set a new target of 31km and was so happy to reach that before I ate all the chocolate at Easter. Final tally 31.05km swum & $2306 raised. Longest swim 3km! A new record for me. I was the 119th highest donor in individual swimmers (maybe we can make the top 100 next year!) amongst over 10,000 participants and thanks to your help I/we've helped 577 young people experiencing mental health difficulties. Collectively the charity raised over $3.4million. ❤️
I was never a confident swimmer as a kid and I still get panicked in the ocean if a bit of seaweed touches me, but I've found swimming laps great for my own mental health and stress relief. As a stand-up comedian I have used my platform to talk about depression and su***de awareness on stage and in schools and if by getting fit I can help others then it's a win win and a no brainer really. Doing this for the first year has helped me with the loss of 2 friends in the first week of 2024 and many other friends and close colleagues over the years. I won't name them, they're close to my heart and were the whole month I swam. My heart is still broken thinking about the people who couldn't fight the fight any longer, so in the midst of this, if you are experiencing any difficulty yourself and need. someone to talk to, please reach out to someone, anyone, even a stranger, you never know how much it can help and how little a burden it really is on others.
I'll be honest, with a lot going in behind the scenes, I've not had a great mental preparation starting my shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival next week, but being a part of this wider community of strangers connecting via swimming and helping others, it has made up for it tenfold and it has put things in perspective and made me feel grateful for being able to support those who really need it. In saying that, now that I've hung up the goggles and you can unblock your eyes from my speedo selfies, I'll start focusing on selling tickets to a comedy show where I can get back to telling dick jokes instead! 😆
Congratulations to everyone involved in any charity, you're all making a difference. You're all heroes. ❤️

For those unfortunate eyes who have been on my social media for several years, you know I've never been shy to post a travel pic of my naked bum in some random destination for a laugh, but today I had to embarrassingly ask the pool staff Wonthaggi Ymca, Swimming Pool in my hometown to take my photo. I received a message from my local newspaper South Gippsland Sentinel-Times generously wanting to do a piece on the charity swim I'm doing this month and they requested a photo. After all, I'm probably the most famous person in Wonthaggi behind the guy on m**h that rides around town no hands on his bike screaming at nothing, but they don't want to do a story on what he's raising money for. I assured the staff it wasn't for my dating profile and it was all for a good cause. I won't admit if I was flexing or not either. 😬 Anyway, before this ends up in the local paper and on their socials, I thought I'd get in first. I am raising money and awareness this month for youth su***de on behalf of ReachOut Australia & Laps for Life From their site:
"More than 1 in 3 young people in Australia is currently experiencing a mental health difficulty. But there’s an even bigger problem: more than 1 million of them are not accessing professional support. And, su***de remains the leading cause of death for 16-24 year olds in Australia."
I've lost too many friends to mention to su***de and a couple just this year. If I can get fit (and rock hard abs) at the same time as raising some dollars and get people talking about it, then I'm proud to get my shirt off and draw more attention to it! I'm ¼ of the way to my swimming target and 50% of the way to my donation target. I'll pop the fundraising link in the comments. Any donation small or large is appreciated, as well as your comments of encouragement. ❤
