Yackandandah is situated in the rolling hills of North East Victoria, approximately 290km from Melbourne and an easy detour off the Hume Highway. With around 700 people calling Yackandandah home, Yackandandah is not a typical tourist town. Rather it is a village that celebrates its past, while it looks towards it future. The local gold field history is written on the face of the village, with a he

ritage listed main street scape hosting a variety of cafes & bakeries, galleries & artists studios, pubs, thrift shops, antique shops, hairdressers, newsagent, real estate agent and clothes boutiques, banks and a supermarket catering to both the local community and visitors alike. This Saturday night, experience an intimate evening with two of Australia’s finest folk artists.

Award winning songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Lucy Wise Music and Alana Wilkinson play contemporary folk songs that tell stories about love, growing up, self-acceptance and many wild and wonderful aspects of being human, drawing on folk, roots and pop music influences. They intermingle deep feelings with humour, blending their stunning vocals with intricate instrumental playing.

Spring is the perfect time to explore the Yackandandah Gorge Scenic Walk.

Wander along the historic gorge (originally carved by hand and later deepened with dynamite) and take in the beautiful cascades, shady trees, and lush spring blooms.

If you're feeling energetic, you can walk along Yackandandah Creek from the centre of town, which takes about an hour. The top of the Gorge is steep and requires the walker to be sure footed and moderately fit. There is a sign post and car park with information signs at the start of the walk. For those unable to take the full trail, there is access to the gorge from Bells Flat Road. The trail is sign posted from the car park and takes about five minutes.

Dust off your hiking shoes and stretch your legs - a little history and a lot of nature await!
