Spring is coming π and this is minutes away from us π
Winter is making way for spring, and it's such a delight to feel the warmth in the air, to see wildflowers blossoming and the vivid turquoise of the water when the sunlight hits βοΈπΌ
πΈ Hugging the Coast is at Castle Rock, near Dunsborough on Geographe Bay.
This stretch of coast is popular with whale watchers as the magnificent, massive mammals swim close to shore, often visible from land and protected in the relatively calm bays.
Fancy catching the annual migration? Spring is like peak hour on the whale superhighway, with around 300 blue whales, 300 southern rights and a whopping 35,000 humpback whales calling past on their way from the Kimberley region back to Antarctic waters.
Join a whale watching charter tour or take a coastal hike for a thrilling glimpse at these majestic animals ππ
5 mins from us, this force of nature. A must see on your visit south. Our kids love climbing the amazing rocks, finding series of caves and making houses. This place awakens the child in us all. π
"Canal Rocks is a must stop on your way through Yallingup in The Margaret River Region!" π·
That's words straight from traveltipsofaus and we wholeheartedly agree π
"The rocks here are so unique and being able to stand on the bridge and watch the water from the waves that just crashed on the rocks pass by under you is just incredible! π"
Did you know that the granite formations at Canal Rocks are somewhere between 300 and 600 million years old, and the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge was once an island! The region has been through ice ages, shifting sands and even a break away from India. π

Some great tips here π
No matter what season you visit, here's tips on the best family-friendly things to do with kids in Dunsborough & Yallingup.
South West is best π
Surfing: itβs not just a sport β itβs a lifestyle ππ
The Margaret River Region is home to world-class waves. And if you surf, you get to feel the power pulsing throughout the water, knowing that youβre only a small dot in a huge ocean.
You don't have to surf to join in on the fun. Watch world class professional in action, or wander the WA Surf Gallery at Aravina Estate. Meet board shapers or watch the sun sink below the horizon at the heart of surfing paradise.
Experience the Margaret River Regionβs surf scene, without even getting wet ~

Top 5, number 5, YalliYallingup Lagoon π
We're counting down the Top 5 of 2022... and where better to begin than the sandy shores of Yallingup Lagoon? This is number 5...

Sunday well spent at Yallingup Beach, in the northern reaches of the Margaret River Region ποΈ
πΈ captured the tranquil lagoon which is perfect for snorkelling and swimming, and just behind it, a much loved surf break.
Loved for its laid back beach town vibes set alongside some of Australiaβs most luxurious accommodation and experiences, there are plenty of things to do in Yallingup. declared it the Number One Top Town in Australia, and we'd have to say they're onto something special here π
Donβt forget to look after yourself these holidays π
By popular request an extra class has been added to our schedule this week. 7am Friday PLUS our regular 7am Saturday. Then every day from Boxing Day. How's that for a great Chrissy gift-to-self? (Photo credit - the amazing Jim King)
A fantastic list for your summer. We are so lucky to have this all at our doorstep π€©
There are many incredible attractions to devour in Margaret River and its restaurants are firmly at the top of the list. Dine here now...
We never get tired of exploring all there is to offer along Caves Rd. Come stay and explore!
Is this the most iconic road in Western Australia? We're just going to go ahead and say yes.. π
β
βCaves Road is your route through the heart of the Margaret River Region and its biggest drawcards. From 5-star wineries (the most out of any wine region in Aus) to 5-star restaurants, art galleries, hobby farms, towering karri forests and caves, this scenic drive will delight the entire family if you're needing to please a crowd. π¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦
β
βStarting in Yallingup (as captured here by πΈ .stories via IG) and winding its way through the rolling greenery of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge all the way to Hamelin Bay the drive takes around an hour to complete, although with the amount of entertainment and indulgence on offer along the way it's pretty much always a full day affair π
That's what I'm talking about ππ€©
It's official: Margaret River is now home to more 5-star wineries than any other region in Australia π€©π· It was an amazing result for a relatively small wine region, taking out nearly all the significant awards at the 2023 Halliday Wine Companion Awards last week.
Congratulations to all the winners but particularly Glenn Goodall from Xanadu Wines and La Kooki Wines winning the coveted Winemaker of the Year. Deep Woods Estate was named Best Value Winery, while L_A_S VINO took Dark Horse Winery honours. Stella Bella Wines was awarded Chardonnay of the Year and Flowstone Wines won Sauvignon Blanc of the Year.
Sounds like it's time to crack a bottle to celebrate! π·π

Good news folks! Mother nature has calmed her chops right down after her recent hissy fit and the weather is back to being b-e-a-utiful for hiking the Cape to Cape Track π
β
βOne of our favourite local tour companies π· Cape to Cape Explorer Tours is particularly excited because the Cape to Cape Track was recently voted by global news group CNN in the top 23 multi-day hikes ON THE PLANET.
β
βAccording to CNN the iconic track is "the ultimate way to see some of the finest scenery in Australia", and we wholeheartedly agree! π
β
βThe Cape to Cape Track is essentially the backbone of The Margaret River Region. Running from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in the north all the way to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in the south it is waiting for you if you're up for the scenic hike of a lifetime. π€

You've likely heard the news about two bush fires here in the Margaret River Region. It's been a really worrying few days for our community, as firefighters and their support networks, worked incredibly hard to bring the fires under control, saving lives, homes and businesses. We are so grateful to them!
While there has been some damage to the beautiful Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park and Boranup Karri Forest, we want you to know that it has not been destroyed. There are some fantastic tours (listed below π) that operate in Boranup Forest and the fire will be a significant challenge to them in what has already been a challenging few years for the industry. These businesses are still open and will continue to share the magical nature of the Forest, even if that is in reimagined ways for now. You can support these businesses by booking a tour or buying a gift voucher for a loved one for Christmas.
