I have always managed to see potential in something old or an item that would ordinarily be destined for the rubbish heap. The more we throw out and replace the more we diminish our resources unnecessarily. Recycling can still be stylish. Artisan techniques are not about mass production they are about passion, detail and beauty, uniqueness, incorporating these into functional items while enhancing our everyday living experiences. Nothing but nourishment… that was my focus for the ending 2024… but the experience did not start out that way.

I felt disconnected from my centre.

So packed a picnic lunch, took my fur babies on an a little adventure to reconnect with ourselves and wild nature.

The dry stoney creek bed meant we did not get to submerge ourselves in crisp mountain water as I had hoped.

The reserve requires dog’s on lead so I set a dog run on the side of the ute, which always works a treat.

Shortly after that a dog (not on a lead) raced around the back of the ute and startled Bandit, Gibbous responded by taking off after the other dog at great speed, breaking his collar in the process.

That was within 10mins of our arrival… I nearly packed up again, to then make the almost hour drive back home… but decided instead to work with what I could find to make to do.

About to take off my belt and use that as a collar, I then remembered the vintage children’s belts I had under the front the seat, which I use as picnic blanket straps when needed.

One was too short, so I joined two together and wrapped it around his neck three times. It worked well enough.

The poor dogs found it hard to settle, it took some time to calm their nerves… and me mine for that matter.

But we spent hours lying under the shade of a tree by a dry creek bed, reading, journalling, eating, listening to wild birds sing and dance around us, watching dragon flies hover over the puddles of water in the creek, while listening to the activities of campers & other day trippers coming and going… the reserve was quite busy.

Towards the end of our time there the dogs were so relaxed I stayed an extra hour just to really let them anchor in that feeling of peace.

We drove home with the windows wide open, stimulating their minds as the smells of the environment changed along the journey.

They slept so peacefully after that… and so did I.

I hope you too had a nourishing end to 2024.

🪶being & doing

There’s a difference between being alone & being lonely.

While today I may be here alone with my fur babies, it’s a lot more magical than feeling lonely in the presence of others.

Love starts within ourselves, then radiates out to others.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be right here… connecting with my inner goddess for the next week… ✨🦋✨

🐚I may be wandering along a shoreline collecting treasures
🌴forrest bathing in a coastal bush
🛍️meandering through boutique stores
📚swinging in a hammock reading a book

Sounds dreamy doesn’t it!

Well, I will be doing many of those things in between coaching sessions, making final edits to my [Em]Power Dressing Guidebook & sewing garments for a beautiful long time customer who placed an order for more effortless linen overlays, just in time for me to pack a mobile sewing set up.

So you could call this a working retreat.

✨🪺🪹✨A soft launch for the pending empty nest phase that lies ahead of me in the not too distant future…

It’s a strange reality, time to focus just on my work & my needs… leaving my precious & treasured dependants back on the tablelands for a little time without mum being available 24/7.

Master 16 (almost 17) here escorting his beautiful girlfriend to her school formal.

In pic no.3 (I suspect captured) by her dad, her mum & I standing opposite each other & the happy couple opposite each other. And if I’m not mistaken we are all standing at cardinal points. I am tempted to the go back to park & check. I think I’m standing westside. 🧭

After the photos, my two young men & I created more magical memories dining out in town together… no photos were taken but treasured memories are certainly embedded in our hearts.

Meet Aaron the creative talent behind ‘Dhupunuru’ leather work and handyman who built this sweet little mobile shoppe. We first met about 8 years ago trading alongside each other at Majors Creek Music Festival, I used sell his stunning creations through my commercial space. His talented partner Kara also skilled leather worker sells under her brand ‘Zulia’ at De Lanceys too. De Lanceys is the name of their mobile shoppe, which is parked on the mainstream in Huskinsson.If you’re around these parts over summer this is a must visit for those who value quality handcrafted leather goods. Open to Trade Fri-Mon. I visited the store on two different days which is I don't have photo of them together.
