Aruba Travel Tip :
A day/night at the Casino!👍

Aruba's casinos are an excellent place for those who want to experience the excitement of gaming.

All major resorts have their own casino and they are generally open from noon to just before sunrise, although some casinos are open twenty-four hours a day for slots play.

Machines use either US coins or tokens of the same value, depending on the casino, and many machines also accept US paper currency.

There are nickel slots at all the casinos and some have penny machines as well.

Aruba's casinos offer all favorite casinos games such as blackjack, roulette, poker, crabs, baccarat and Caribbean Stud Poker, a game that originates from Aruba.

In addition to the traditional casinos games, Aruba's casinos feature theme-night's events, sports book, tournaments, daily bingo games, entertainment and special offers and prizes.

The legal age to enter a casino is 18 years, and the casino has the right to request a valid I.D. as proof of age.

Aruba Travel Tip :
Visit Aruba's Arikok National Park!👍

Our island’s national park takes up 20% of the island and is filled with endless trails, wildlife, flora, caves, beaches, natural pools, blowholes, underground mines, and more!

The rangers work very hard on a daily basis to keep the park clean and protected, keeping both nature and visitors safe.

Not only do they keep us safe but they have plenty of interesting knowledge to share with us! There truly are so many things to see and learn in this park (for visitors and locals alike).

Did you know: The three highest points in Aruba are Sero Jamanota (no. 1), Sero Arikok (no. 2) and Hooiberg (no. 3). Sero Cabai comes in at number four, just one meter short of Hooiberg! Some even argue it could be taller than Hooiberg.

If you plan on visiting the park to experience a hike for yourself, here are some “dos & don’ts” for you to consider: bring plenty of water, sunblock, comfortable sturdy shoes, snacks, sunglasses, a hat, and more water!

The sun in Aruba is no joke, especially out ‘in the wild’, so you want to be as protected as possible.

Also, very important, don’t touch or eat any plants or fruit that you are not familiar with, as it could be poisonous.

Lastly, always be aware of thorns, prickly plants, and cacti – they are everywhere… so watch your step!

Picture stunning desert-like landscape with rough terrain, surrounded by hills, rock walls & formations, plenty of cacti, and other unique flora.

You will find numerous dry riverbeds (roois) leading to beautiful bocas (secluded wild bays) at the rough coastline.

Such a breathtaking sight to see... nothing but the smell of saltwater in the air and wild blues crashing before you.

Aruba Travel Tip :
A Nature Hike in Arikok National Park!👍

Aruba’s flora and fauna are finally getting the chance to flourish and enjoy this time of peace and solitude as they should!

There is less smog and pollution in the air, less trash found on the ground and there are fewer humans interfering with our wildlife‘s habitats.

We are seeing an increase in bird sightings in different areas across the island, a significantly greater presence of marine life, and rapid growth of flora.

This is an opportunity for us as humans to witness this miraculous restoration taking place and learn from it.

We must do everything we can to encourage its growth and protect our environment.

There is no better place than Arikok National Park!

It is simply the perfect place to escape and completely immerse yourself in nature.

Yes, that’s right…no pinging of cellphone notifications, no honking cars, and no thumping stereo sounds.

Only tranquil sounds of birds singing, the wind blowing in the trees, and ocean waves crashing ashore!

Aruba Travel Tip :
Visit Fort Zoutman & Willem III Toren!👍

The oldest remains of the Dutch settlement and Aruba's oldest building, Fort Zoutman, was built in 1796 for protection against pirates and enemies.

In 1868, the Willem III Tower was added to the Fort and served as Aruba's first public clock and as a lighthouse equipped with a spire and petrol lamp.

After the light was extinguished in the tower, Fort Zoutman housed for almost a century different organizations like government offices, police department, library, post office and a prison.

Today the buildings house the Historical Museum, which is a museum displaying many artifacts from Aruba's earliest through those reminiscent of colonial times up to the present day.

Aruba Travel Tip :
Discover Aruba's beautiful natural bridges!👍

Explore the rugged northern shore of Aruba and discover many natural bridges on your way; some small, yet all true gems.

For thousands of years, pounding waves and strong winds have slowly chiseled away at the limestone cliffs along Aruba’s north coast to create several natural bridges.

Before collapsing in 2005, the largest and most photographed of these bridges was the famous Natural Bridge between the Bushiribana gold mine ruins and Andicuri Beach. The remains of this bridge are still a tourist attraction in Aruba, with the adjacent intact Baby Bridge also meriting a visit.

The Natural Bridge area boasts a souvenir shop and snack bar with refreshments in a replica cunucu house.

Other gorgeous natural bridges can be found in the southern part of the island near Black Stone Beach where you’ll find a unique tripod bridge.

Aruba Travel Tip :
A trip to Dos Playa!👍

Indulge in pure beach bliss at Dos Playa (two beaches), a pair of bordering coves carved out of the island’s limestone.

Dos Playa offers two coves in pure nature, accessible by foot. One cove is a go-to for island surfers, with a broad white-sand beach for sunbathing or relaxing under the shade of the sea-grape trees.

Visitors of the Arikok National Park have access to the remotely located Dos Playa beaches. It is a must-go for people who like an unspoiled beach experience and are curious to explore Aruba's most natural beaches. Don't expect facilities or services here, just take in natural beauty at its best.

Located within our Arikok National Park, be sure to add a visit to the rolling dunes of neighboring Boca Prins. On a short drive (or even walk) you will find Boca Prins Restaurant & Bar for refreshments, and a quick bite to eat.

Dos Playa gives access to a rough ocean with a strong undertow, so this area is not suited for unexperienced swimmers and body-boarders. Please keep the area clean and pristine; driving and bbq-ing on the sand is strictly forbidden.

A trip to San Nicolas, the cultural capital of Aruba!👍

Visit San Nicolas, the cultural capital of Aruba. You will be amazed by the artistic beauty.

Artists from all over the world as well as the local talents participated in the Aruba Art Fair. They left their marks behind on the walls and buildings surrounding the Main Street of San Nicolas.

San Nicolas is around 30 mins drive from Oranjestad at the south-east end of the island and buses run several times an hour.

A morning seeing the street-art could happily be combined with lunch at the popular Charlie's Bar, and a relaxing afternoon on Baby Beach.

Experience the beautiful artwork for yourself, get inspired, or snap some selfies!

Aruba Travel Tip :
A trip to California Light House!👍

The California lighthouse was built between 1914 and 1916 according to a French design.

It was named after the steamship California which was wrecked nearby in 1891.

Standing more than 90 feet high, the lighthouse is an impressive landmark in the barren almost lunar-like landscape surrounding it.

Its location allows commanding views of the north coast, the sand dunes area, and also towards the high-rise hotel area.

A trip to Bushiribana Ruins!👍

In 1872 the Aruba Island Gold-mining Company Ltd. built a large smelting works at Bushiribana on the North coast.

That was for the gold that was being mined at Seroe Plat and in its surroundings.

Although the smelting works were only in use for 10 years, the construction was so solid that the impressive ruins still remain.

One can walk into the ruins and also take pictures there.

A nice picture to take uses the intact windows of the ruins as a natural picture frame for a picture taken towards the ocean.

Either for day or night dives.

Everything that lives under the sea, can be seen here.

The Antilla, a German freighter, was confiscated at the start of World War II.

The German crew opened its valves and let it sink rather than be confiscated.
