Our project Bridge construction over Caspian Sea
An agreement has been signed between Azerbaijani and South Korean Governments ondevelopment of Feasibility Study for the Project of Marine Bridge Construction over Baku Bay.
The purpose of the marine bridge construction over Baku Bay project is to improve transportinfrastructure in Baku City and enrich the experience of Azerbaijani specialists on construction ofmarine bridges and roads by Korean experts.
Bridge over Baku Bay will ease the traffic in the centre of the city and facilitate the movement of
vehicles in a number of directions. In case of construction of Quba-Shamakhi Highway, distancefrom central parts of Azerbaijan to Russian border will be shortened by 156 km, anddevelopment of new infrastructure in that route will increase the touristic potential of the country.
Project area starts at Yasamal Valley, from Badamdar connection of Baku CircularHighway, then extends to 20th area settlement in the east through underneath BadamdarHill (construction of a two-way tunnel is proposed) for 2.3-2.5 km and further proceeds tooffshore part through this areas and Bibiheybat oil field. The Project corridor crossesresidential areas of the 20th area for about 700 m and oil field for 1460 m.
Assessment of environmental and social-economic baseline on the Project is one of the mainelements of Feasibility Study. These assessments will allow the feasibility team to identify anynegative impacts on natural, social and economic environments and sensitive areas during theFeasibility Study.
These assessments include studying physical, chemical and biological environments, social andeconomic conditions, sensitive areas and their condition both in onshore and offshore parts ofthe Project corridor. Current condition of environmental pollution, environmental legalframework, regulations and standards are also studied.
