🇧🇦 At almost 1,500 meters above sea level is the highest and most isolated village in BiH - Lukomir. This village belongs to the municipality of Konjic, about 50 kilometers from Sarajevo and is a symbol of the historical, cultural, architectural and environmental heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is unique in its 200-year-old stone houses, which are covered with cherry wood shingles, and in its traditional clothing, and women still wear knitted garments as they were worn centuries ago.
According to locals, the village is more than 300 years old, and the origin of the name is unknown. It is speculated that it is a combination of the words port of peace, which this village really is. However, stećak tombstones on the edge of the village say that the village was inhabited in the 14th and 15th centuries.
The locals of Lukomir are kind and hospitable. They will offer you coffee or homemade tea, make Bosnian pie, tell the legends and folklore of this area and introduce you to their life, which is the same as a few hundred years ago.
