The series of waterfalls at Kravice are nestled in a natural reserve southwest of the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. River Trebizat is plunging from cliffs as high as 83 feet into a natural watery amphitheater that is 500 feet across. The stunning mini-Niagara of 25m cascades itself into a dramatic and steamy fury. During the summer, surrounding pools become shallow enough for swimming.

Ali Pasha’s Mosque was built in 1561 in a classical Istanbul style by the order of Hadim Ali Pasha, known for his military efforts also under the name Gazi Ali Pasha. The mosque is located in the very center of Sarajevo and represents one of the prettiest example of classical Ottoman construction in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

When Europe plunges into war...

In the morning of June 28, 1914, the procession of the Archduke of Austria was making its way towards City Hall in Sarajevo, when a bomb was hurled in its direction. The Archduke, seated in the second car, was uninjured and was able to continue his route.

⚠️A fateful change of plan⚠️
Franz Ferdinand ignored advice to cancel the rest of the tour and insisted the couple visited some of the injured in the hospital before continuing with the official programme.

As a compromise, it was agreed that the convoy should follow a different route and not, as planned, travel down Franz-Joseph-Strasse.

However, tragically, this change of plan appears not to have been communicated to the driver in the first car, who turned into the street as previously arranged.

In the hastily conducted reverse manoeuvre, the Archduke’s car came to a halt right in front of Gavrilo Princip who had positioned himself, by chance, at the exact same spot.

A few metres away from his target he managed to shoot the Archduke in the neck and his wife in the abdomen. Sophie died in the car, and Franz Ferdinand shortly after reaching the residence of the Governor.

The conspirators could not know, and certainly had not planned, that a world war would result from this act of violence, but in the weeks that followed, decisions were made in Europe’s capitals that ensured that the death of this one man would lead to the deaths of millions.

From Sarajevo with Love.
While Paris has the Eiffel Tower, Sarajevo has its Eiffel Bridge on Skenderija.
While there is nothing to back it up and there isn't a single written document to confirm the claim, there is a legend that says this bridge was designed by the famous Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, the architect responsible for the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The bridge is home to a small number of love locks, a phenomenon practiced by lovers on various European, Asian and Australian bridges.

Ruins have their charm..
Tašlihan ( Stone Inn ) was one of three caravanserais in Sarajevo which served both travelers and horses. A caravanserai was actually a large fort-like structure which could accommodate an entire caravan, with all of the pack horses and merchants.
Caravanserais were usually built on two levels and they would almost always have only one entrance, which would definitely be locked at night! The open courtyard area was reserved for the loading and unloading of goods, it was often paved with cobblestones and there would also be a well or fountain.
Tašlihan experienced fires on several occasions and the last fire in 1879 totally destroyed it. The remains of the inn were removed in 1912, except for the sections of the wall that were built against Bezistan.
Taslihan is located at the beginning of Bascarsija where today Hotel Europe has a summer garden.
