Was raised in the family business; A dry good store situated in Swan Street. I remember my dad fired me three times until I fully understood the concept of “The Customer Is Always Right”. Studied Medical laboratory Technology; worked at the Queen Elizabet Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and for the next 30+ years, as A Professional Medical Sales Representative. Repping/medical sales afforded me the opportunity to travel quite a bit and I stayed in many, many hotels. Had first-hand experiences, both positives and negatives in accommodations. In 2011 when I made a career change and got into Property management, I made it my business to do the Barbados Community College Property Management course to give me a better understanding of the industry. Today I am a member of BEAVA I am a professional and a perfectionist. To this end, I am a firm believer in doing thing correctly and to the best of my ability the first time around. Today I now manage both SHORT- & LONG-TERM residential properties as well as a business complex. “A clean healthy surrounding, you will not be disappointed” is my every day policy. Most of the properties are on the West Coast of the island, In a safe peaceful location. Lavern Beresford is ambitious, industrious and adept. She holds an Associate Degree in Computer Studies (Information Technology) from the Barbados Community College and is a Certified Administrative Corporate Secretary (University of the West Indies, Barbados). Her early years of employment allowed her extensive experience in Accounting, Finance and Investment, as she worked for a leading Finance Company on the island, in the capacity of Accounting/Investment Assistant and Loans Officer. She also has experience in Management, as she has held the position of General Manager for an Engineering Group of Companies. She has spent several years in the International Reinsurance Off-Shore Sector, in the capacity of Office Manager and Corporate/Compliance Officer and has now embarked on a new journey of Property Management for the past five years; she owns and manages a collection of apartments in Sunset Crest and Warrens. Her effervescent personality allows her to make friends with people in every corner of the world, and she enjoys hosting and welcoming visitors to the scenic island of Barbados. She is currently an active member on the BETA Executive Committee, and serves as Chair of Membership, and Secretary. Meet our President, Ms. Deborah Grant. • Deborah Grant CPA-CGA, CITM, CTG. An island girl with a passion for people. She grew up in a family business until the age of 11 years and now is a solo entrepreneur. She attended Secretarial School, and then pursued her accounting designation to become a Certified General Accountant (CGA). On changing careers in 2017, she went on to obtain certification as a Certified International Tour Manager and then a Certified Tour Guide. Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB), Certified Professional Accountants (CPA)BC. The International Association of Tour Directors and Guides (IATDG) in the USA, the World Federation of Tourist Guides Association (WFTGA) and President of Barbados Entrepreneurship & Tourism Association (BETA).
