The Boardwalk: Beach Access for all 😍

A dream come to life 🙏

When we had our family holiday rentals in East Preston, we often had multi-generational groups stay and we were embarrassed to have to tell the older, less mobile generation, that they would need to travel 20 mins by car to be able to get onto the beach. Surely the beach should be accessible to all we thought?

A chance meeting in the village in the summer of 2023, led us to a retired engineer who had come up with a very clever design for a boardwalk, as he too had a desire to provide access for all.

18 months later, some real grit and determination against far too many roadblocks, the Boardwalk is finally in place 🙏 (the last remaining deck boards to go in next week)

This could not have been achieved without the selfless time given by the Sea Road Beach Access board, a whole load of amazing volunteers and some wonderful financial donors.

An emotional moment seeing it for real for the first time.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if this could be rolled out all over the country?? 🙏

To any of our guests who have stayed with us with elderly relatives who found it hard to get onto the beach with all the pebbles (we know some of you did as this is the reason we got involved with this project in the first place - see by first hand how inaccessible the beach could be even though we took it for granted)

Anyway if you’d like to donate we are trying to create a beach where ALL can see the sea 🏖️🙏❤️

We believe EVERYBODY should be able to REACH THE BEACH. We aim to build a boardwalk over the shingle to create access for all.

⚡️⚡️NEWSFLASH⚡️⚡️

Driftwood Stays in East Preston is coming to an end. If you're on our email list you've already been given a heads up. Our last bookings in Driftwood Corner and Little Driftwood will be for Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend and then we are shut from 14th July onwards. (we still have a few small gaps between now and then if you fancy a cheeky seaside stay)

We are extremely happy that our properties have been bought by previous guests, so we know they will continue to be loved and looked after 😍

We are not completely stopping holiday rentals - and we will tell you more about that in the weeks to come - same same ... different location.. can you guess where?? 😉

In other news, we are setting up a new venture The Coastal Renovators helping others with their renovation projects particularly those with coastal properties. We have our own, new renovation project coming soon too, so if you want to stay in touch with what we are up to - head over there as from now on, we will be spending much of our time there. 🙏

May is such a great month to visit Brighton with the festival going on and the open house art trail now numbering around 180 houses!! Pure joy - nosing round cool houses in Brighton and Hove - what's not to love??

Easy access from our properties - we highly recommend the train from Angmering as they go regularly and you avoid seasonal traffic jams and hefty parking charges - plus kids go free on family ticket 😊
