We really love a sunset catamaran cruise and there are lots of companies that offer them.

Some are quiet and some more of a party atmosphere (🍹🍹🍹). This pic was taken from a Tiami cruise which was not too wild but still had a great vibe. Food, drinks (and dancing) all included.

If you’ve been on a cruise let us know who you’d recommend and why?

When people visit Barbados they often choose an all inclusive hotel, and that can be very appealing as you know what you're budgeting for. However, there are many reasons why this may restrict your enjoyment of the island.

Here are our main reasons for choosing your own accommodation (specifically what we offer at Turtle View 2, Barbados) rather than a hotel when visiting Barbados.

1. THE FOOD! When you are all inclusive its seems foolish to eat elsewhere, but the food on the island is incredible. And we are not just talking about the "best" restaurants, but everything from the street food upwards. When Staying at Turtle View 2, we are a couple of minutes from both Ju Ju's Beach Bar where you can have tasty fish cutters and sundowners (the rum punch is great) and The Lone Star which is one of the island's top restaurants.

2. SO MUCH TO SEE: When you stay in a hotel, it is common for people to stick to their resort and not venture out much (all-inclusive you wouldn't want to miss the lunch you have paid for!). But there is so much to see. When you have your own accommodation you are far more likely to venture out and explore the island. We recommend hiring a car (Corbin's are our company of choice) to access the north and east the island more easily (buses are great up and down the west coast).

3. THE BEACHES: Unlike some Caribbean islands, the beaches in Barbados are not exclusive. Every beach is open to the public which means the hotels haven't snaffled the best ones and you can visit all of them! Some places have hotel beach club services as part of the rental price. And when you stay at Turtle View 2, you have access to the Fairmont Pavilion Hotel beach club (just a few minutes walk) which includes sunbeds as well as a discount on food and drinks.

4. PEACE: When you stay in your own accommodation you have the peace and quiet of your own space and don't have to share it with strangers. At Turtle View 2, you have access to your own private plunge pool and even the main pool in the gated community is usually very quiet.

5. OISTINS: OK we are back to food again, but visiting Oistins Fish Market on a Friday night is not just about the food (which is incredible and so inexpensive) but it is an absolutely brilliant night out. If you are all-inclusive, chances are you will feel reluctant to miss your dinner at the hotel. Think street performers, music, dancing - this place has it all. (It is on the south of the island but it is well worth the journey!)

6. SHARE THE COSTS: if you decide to rent in a development like Turtle View 2, a bigger group can travel together and share its facilities. Hotel services such as concierge are still available through management companies like Blue Sky.

All these things at a fraction of the cost make a luxury destination like Barbados more affordable and arguably more enjoyable for people when you rent a property. Get in contact for availability and rates!
