Mountain Bike Barbados Promoting mountain biking in Barbados and showing the natural beauty of our island.

I've been riding, maintaining the foot/multi-use trails in Barbados for 10 years, more recently I have started to build new, dedicated MTB trails. So a ride with us gives much needed support to keeping and building trails on the island. If you are coming to the island and want to bring your bike and would like a guide for your own personal tour/ride or think you're able to join some local rides e-

mail me. If you're coming to the island and would like to ride but don't want to bring your bike, e-mail me with your details, I have a few bikes, let me see if I have one that fits you.

Got out to do a bit of trail clearing this week, did the usual trimming of encroaching vegetation, but also did a much needed reroute at a badly eroded section. If you know Bath Trail, it's the section just south of the little foot bridge, south of Chubb Bay. I since went back and added some yellow marking tape across the old section/route, which is also blocked by the cuttings from clearing the reroute.
PLEASE use the reroute going inland or the trail will be eroded away in no time again.

The term "Must Watch" is used a lot of the time, but this truly is a Must Watch, take the 20 minutes and be reminded of the power of a bike.

What a great ride yesterday morning, the rain from the previous day had packed the dust in and it was just clear skies and sunshine. The clear skies and sunshine also meant it got pretty dang hot, but that's the norm in May, there's a reason "season" starts December 15th and ends April 15th, because that's the coolest time and outside of that, temps really get up there. Got snagged by a nasty, overhanging thorn bush that wasn't there on Monday and I paid my blood sacrifice to the trails. I of course stopped and cut back said bush, probably washed/weighted down into the trail by the previous days rain, so others wouldn't suffer the same.

Cleared the last section of Bath Trail that really needed clearing , was totally overgrown with razor leafed palms, so not nice to go through at even walking speed. Thanks to whomever did the bit of clearing just past Atlantis Hotel, that and this final bit of clearing means that the trail is almost 100% clear, with the exception of one small stretch along the white cliff between Martin and Chubb Bay. .

Still one of my favourite trails, even if it's a more pedaly one. Was super technical for me when I started riding it 20 years ago, think that I maybe could ride 10% of it, now it's reverse percentage wise for me, even with the damage from rough seas, heavy rains and my knee still not being close to 100% still.

Decided to head out this morning and check the trail from Tent Bay to Martins Bay, see how it compares to the section from Martins Bay to Bath. It wasn't too bad, did some clearing in the most overgrown spots, but still needs a bit as didn't have time this morning. Still ended up being a 22.6 mile,/2:44 hour ride and the sun wasn't so pleasant heading home around 9am.

A few pics from last week's ride that inspired me to get out and do some trail clearing. Looking forward to getting out a lot more now, especially for some longer XC/Trail type rides that incorporate a little bit of everything.

Did a ride on Thursday morning which included some of Bath Trail, from Martin's Bay to Bath and was a bit shocked by the state of it considering that MTBers cleared it January when it was thought rainy season was over (it wasn't quite) and then the hiking society held the Colin Hudson memorial hike towards the end of February and fully expected they would have done some touch up clearing, but guess they didn't.
So set of this morning with the goal of cutting/clearing back the really bad areas. Goal accomplished, but it was a long one, was out from 6-10:15am, but happy I did get it done and can now start enjoying the trail again now the rains are gone. Good to be back out on my first proper trail I rode when I started mountain biking 20 years ago.

Great ride this morning, those hours of hard work fixing the trail were well worth it, rode even better than expected. Few pics from the ride, first stopped checking out the next trail work project and then doing a quick check on the drop in to Dumb Down before we hit it.

A good afternoon/evening giving the Dumb Down trail some much needed work to resurrect it from all the damage the rainy season did. Had to re-route a section because the damage was so bad, but the new section looks very fun-will find out tomorrow morning how it rides. Thanks to Trev and Greg for the assist.

So nice to get out on the bike and show off our beautiful little island and what we have to offer. Amazing how quickly it goes from soggy/muddy & rainy to dry & dusty here. Thanks to the few guys who have already been out getting the trails opened up, looking forward to getting out myself and putting in some hard work.
