Fire & Fork, Zoo road
Lots of hype in Facebook but alas, didn't meet expectations.
Decoration & environment is nice. But it's actually made of 2-shops in a market. Access stair is narrow & dirty, gas cylinder at the entrance! Inside is full of smoke as kitchen ventilation doesn't work.
Food are tasty, Sauteed Chicken was good but beef steak was not that good. Amount of food is small compared to price. It's too pricey! 150gm steak and 100gm rice + a quarter-chicken steak is 1200++. Plus 5% vat and if you don't say ahead, would add 10% service charge.
Totally not worth the food we got.

ফেসবুকে প্রচুর হাইপ কিন্তু, প্রত্যাশা পূরণ হয়নি।
সাজসজ্জা এবং পরিবেশ সুন্দর। কিন্তু এটি আসলে একটি মার্কেটের 2-দোকান দিয়ে তৈরি। প্রবেশের সিঁড়ি সরু ও নোংরা, প্রবেশপথে গ্যাস সিলিন্ডার! রান্নাঘরের বায়ুচলাচল কাজ করে না বলে ভিতরে ধোঁয়ায় পূর্ণ।
খাবার সুস্বাদু, সতেড চিকেন ভালো ছিল কিন্তু বিফ স্টেক তেমন ভালো ছিল না। দামের তুলনায় খাবারের পরিমাণ কম। বেশ দামী! 150 গ্রাম স্টেক এবং 100 গ্রাম চাল + এক কোয়ার্টার-চিকেন স্টেক 1200++; প্লাস 5% ভ্যাট এবং আপনি যদি আগে না বলেন, তাহলে 10% সার্ভিস চার্জ যোগ হবে।
দামের তুলনায় যে খাবার পেয়েছি তা একেবারেই বাজে।

Umm Cafe.
New small cafe with 'Baker Bhai's, of 'Kothao Keu Nei' drama, tea & bakorkhani!
Have small Shingaras, moglai parata. tried all.
Chicken cheese Shingara- excellent.
Only Chicken Shingara- So so
Chicken lever Shingara- very good

Cheese Moglai parata- Nice
Pizza Moglai parata- Best among all these
Alu puri- good, full of alu!

Tea was good but bakorkhani went stale.

Overall- good but price is a bit high compared to the size. Shingaras are 1-bite size, Moglai paratas are 1/4th of usual size.

উম ক্যাফে।
'কোথাও কেউ নেই' নাটকের 'বাকের ভাইয়ের', চা ও বাকরখানি নিয়ে নতুন, ছোট এক ক্যাফে!
আছে ছোট ছোট শিঙাড়া, মোগলাই পরাটা। সব খেয়ে দেখলাম।
চিকেন পনির শিঙ্গারা- চমৎকার।
শুধু চিকেন শিঙ্গারা- চলে
চিকেন লিভার শিঙ্গারা- খুব ভালো

পনির মোগলাই পরাটা- চমৎকার
পিৎজা মোগলাই পরাটা- এসবের মধ্যে সেরা
আলু পুরি- ভালো, আলুতে ভরা!

চা ভালোই ছিল কিন্তু বকরখানি বাসি হয়ে গেছে।

মোটামোটি ভাবে- ভালো তবে আকারের তুলনায় দাম একটু বেশি। শিঙ্গারগুলো ১ কামড়ের আকারের, মোগলাই পরাটা স্বাভাবিক আকারের ১/৪ ভাগ।

WoW momo at Hatirjhil.
In the afternoon, it's a nice enjoyable place to sit around.
But the Momo's are bad! Copied style of Indian wow momo but didn't like a single item.
Chicken cheese momo have trace of cheese.
Hard to find Mushroom in Chicken mushroom.
Shumai is same chicken, stuffed differently.
Sizzling momo is just sizzled in sauce.
All are same Chicken Momo, differently named!

Titanic Rooftop
Well decorated with a theme of Ship, above rooftop of 4-storied building and a good view of the surrounding. Dining places are clean but staircase and toilets are not that clean; must clean-up the hand-wash, toilet & esp. the curtains in toilet.
Quite busy with good number of guests but Service is slow, kitchen is small compared to the requirement. We had to wait for 45-mins!
Staffs are enthusiastic and eager to dance or have fun, liked it very much.
We ordered their Special Fried rice & Spring fried chicken that, was very good, taste is something different, even though, quantity of rice is not enough for two..
Then had Korean Ramen which, was also good.
Afterwards had BBQ Italian Pizza which, was excellent and we all loved it.
Price is a bit high but not too much. Overall, loved it.

Secret Recipe, Gulshan
Flagship outlet, all of their items are available here. Their cakes are wonderful. I bought many cakes from before, among them, I liked Newyork cheese cake and Royal marble cake. Yesterday tried slices of Blueberry cheesecake, Classic Tramisu & Triple cheesecake. Triple cheesecake was the best.

Nothing special to see or enjoy there yet. Now it's just a scam to make people travel 75km. It would take 15 more years to have the planned development.

Shalik restaurant, Cox's Bazar.
New brance at Dolphin Moore. Big restaurant and yet very busy! 100s of food items & variety- From local cuisine to ethnic cuisine to BBQ, kebab & Chinese! Gravy Rupchada and loitta fry was very good. Cooking was very good. Will visit again next time.

Niribili Orchid restaurant, Cox's Bazar.
Normal Bangla food restaurant, had breakfast here after landing. Host was saying it's a good restaurant but locals say it was better, now quality has fallen and it shows in food, maintenance & cleanliness.

Rickshaw Cafe, Neelam market, 300ft road.
The good thing about this restaurant is the environment. Good decoration and place to sit around but being close to under-construction road, it's very dusty. Food was not very good. Hype was about Bamboo Biryani and we ordered it; but we believe it is cooked normally and then inserted into bamboo and warmed up. Taste was not good and very little amount of beef. Fish & chips was also not any better. All overpriced! Would get better even in Gulshan for 480taka.

Matiyal- earthworkshop, organized by Perceive at Rupgao ( রূপগাঁও ) training center.
Had an exciting office outing to Rupgao, an eco-friendly training/facility, completely constructed of natural materials as far as possible. Nice & clean environment, very well maintained.
Food was exceptionally good! The breakfast with fresh vegetables from local fields, egg from their own poultry and brown bread was excellent. And then the lunch- all locally sourced- vorta/shaks, local chicken, roi fish and red-rice was again- Superb! In the afternoon, we brought Kolapata restaurant to do BBQ of chicken and Crab with romali roti; this was another hit, as we all enjoyed and ate everything they brought!
We did some property-experiment with mud and making mud wall. I expected that, there would be some pottery making etc. But Thanks to Perceive for their wonderful arrangements.
Overall an enjoyable day!

Masala Chowk
An outlet in Daily Bailey food court, known for Indian foods. Very busy and lots of items. We took Ashoka Thali. Was very good, but all are chicken items. Salted lassi was also good. Will come again to try others as well.

Laughing Buddha
High-end restaurant famous for good Thai foods. Well decorated and lighting. Air is a bit musty and I'm sure, it will not look/feel good in daylights. Foods were excellent. I liked Prawn dumplings and coco- mango entremets. Prawn soup was not very good. Liked Seafood in coconut, fish cutlet & beef satay. Prawn-rice & chicken satay was average. All items are very costly, still a busy place!

Inside the courtyard of Atrium Restaurant, Baridhara. Good coffee and snacks. Price is a bit high but quality is good.

Salad Lover's
At L-05 of Jamuna Shopping Mall. An assortment of 40+ items, mostly salad & vegetarian with 4 chicken items. 0.93 paisa per gram; i.e. it gets around 350tk for a good meal. Nice and tasty 😋, I enjoyed it.

যমুনা শপিং মলের ০৫ তালায়। ৪০+ আইটেমের একটি সম্ভার, বেশিরভাগই সালাদ এবং নিরামিষ সহ ৪টি মুরগির আইটেম। প্রতি গ্রাম ০.৯৩ পয়সা; মানে ভালভাবে খাবারের জন্য প্রায় ৩৫০৳ খরচ হবে। চমৎকার এবং সুস্বাদু 😋, আমার বেশ মজা লাগছে।

বোম্বাই সিংগাড়া
গুলিস্তান রাজউক অফিসের পিছনে। ৬ টাকা মাত্র, কিন্তু বেশ মজা একটু হালকা ঝাল। বানায়া শেষ করতে পারে না বেচা শেষ!

Shahi Delhi Darbar
Indian restaurant at food court of Jamuna Shopping center. Overly decorated but not much crowded even on Saturday. Food was good. Both dosa platter and fried rice set menu was good.

Had a visit to the new under construction building of BRAC University today with Architects colleagues. Surprisingly, Ar Nahas Khalil was also visiting with his team.

Ifthi Swimming pool & Restaurant
New place with swimming pool at Neela Market, 300ft road.
Good sized pool with 6ft deep water. Water is clean and maintained but changing rooms and toilets are in bad condition. Spent a good time.
Food is so-so, only set-menu is available and took 30mins to make! But I was hungry after swimming!

Waffle Time at Gulshan-2 by Lavender shop.
Newly opened small shop, no seating, have to eat in car or on footpath. Waffles are very tasty, bit small but good price. Tried 4 types - Nutella, Icy Velvet, strawberry ice cream, blueberry ice cream. We liked strawberry and kids liked Nutella.
No parking around and police will chase you during busy times, lots of beggars around (might be richer than us, don't take less than 50 taka).

Dough Diaries, beside Aarong Gulshan link road.

Liked the small but cozy atmosphere with exposed brick, cement floor- all designed with a natural look with a setting of landscaping!
Coffee was good. Croissant, mashroom roll was also very good.

Roudri Chaya Cafe, Nila Market.
Good environment, decoration of a bit rural setting. Felt good to sit around. Other than few set-menu nothing was available. They start preparing food after 5 pm. More than half the menu is for show 😕, don't even make it but kept in menu as attraction! We had to wait 50mins to get the kebab & tandoori items. Foods were good and tasty.

Khana's Meril Badda Branch.
Nice and cozy. Limited menu items. Price is bit high for the quantity but quality is excellent. Loved all 6-items we ordered. Fully loaded subway was very good. Mushroom burger & meat-box was also very tasty. They don't have option to change order even 1 min after a mistaken order!
Building management is not good, from entry to lift, stair everywhere is dirt; they don't clean or maintain very well. No parking!

Chillox Badda
New branch beside BRAC University. Today had burger with friends in this branch. Make of Burger & fries & coffee of this one is better than Mirpur. Quality depenyon the chef and I think chillox is not training the staffs properly.

Average, Burgers didn't taste exceptional. Chicken BBQ burger was best. Basic chicken burger and special burger was so-so. Beed-Cheese blast burger was not good. All were soggy. Branch in Banani & Jamuna FP is better. Inside the restaurant is clean but stair is horrible and steps are hazzardously uneven.

Banani Puja Mandap
Went to see Durga Puja. Design of this Temporary Mandir is nice this year, made of bamboo & earth pottery.
Too much crowded but not a good crowd control, narrow pathway and gate with people moving back & forth.
What surprised me most is, prayer area is divided into VIP and general area! What sort of idea is this?

বনানী পূজা মন্ডপ
দুর্গাপূজা দেখতে গিয়েছিলাম। বাঁশ ও মাটির মৃৎপাত্র দিয়ে তৈরি এই অস্থায়ী মন্দিরের নকশা এবছর চমৎকার হয়েছে।
অত্যধিক ভিড় কিন্তু ভিড় নিয়ন্ত্রণ ভালো না, সরু পথ এবং গেট যেখানে লোকজন সামনে-পেছনে যাচ্ছে।
যেটা আমাকে সবচেয়ে বেশি অবাক করেছে তা হল, প্রার্থনার এলাকা ভিআইপি এবং সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য আলাদা! এটা কি ধরনের কাজ?

Jolshiri Central Park
Nice open space, good to enjoy. Landscape design is not so good, could have done a better design with the money they spent! Entry fee of 200 tk/p is a bit too high and parking is very far from entry. Overall, Kids enjoyed the playfield but we couldn't enjoy.

Search Juice Bar
Nice and cozy juice bar at Agargaon 60ft road. Interior is nice. I liked Special Lemon juice, Sharmin Akter liked ice cream lassi and kids loved KitKat lassi. Good place to hangout, no parking & road Infront is bad.
