Following the completion of Ramadan, this year anticipated to end on Sunday 1 May 2022, is the start of Eid al-Fitr. An Arabic phrase meaning ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast’, Eid al-Fitr is a celebratory time spent with friends, family, and the local community. It is forbidden to fast on the first day of Eid al-Fitr and it is traditionally celebrated with lots of great food, gift-giving, and spending time with loved ones.
Eid al-Fitr will start on the sighting of the moon and this year is expected to fall on Monday 2 May 2022 or Tuesday 3 May 2022.
