দীর্ঘ ৯ মাসের রক্তক্ষয়ী যুদ্ধের পর ১৬ ডিসেম্বর, ১৯৭১ সালে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে বিজয় অর্জন করে আমাদের এই সোনার বাংলাদেশ। এই বিজয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে বাঙালি জাতি অর্জন করে স্বাধীনতা ও সার্বভৌমত্ব।

শহীদদের আত্মত্যাগের বিনিময়ে অর্জিত এই বিজয়ের মাহাত্ম্য আমরা কখনও ভুলব না। বিজয় দিবসে সকলকে জানাই আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা।

মেধাশূন্য করতে গিয়ে মেধাবীদের হত্যা করেছিল পাকিস্তানি হানাদাররা। কিন্তু তারা জানতো না- বাংলার মেধা আগুনের মতো, যা কেউ নিভাতে পারে না।

১৯৭১ সালের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চূড়ান্ত বিজয়ের মাত্র দুই দিন আগে, পরাজয় নিশ্চিত জেনে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী জাতির শ্রেষ্ঠ সন্তানদের হত্যা করে।

আজ ১৪ই ডিসেম্বর, গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও কৃতজ্ঞতার সাথে স্মরন করছি সকল শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের, যাদের আত্মত্যাগের বিনিময়ে জন্ম আমাদের প্রিয় সোনার বাংলার।

Breathe Deep: Machine Learning as Spiritual Practice
How do babies learn how to breathe? After months in the womb, a first breath is a mixed message: “I can make it on my own,” but also, “I am one of you.” There is a reason that many wisdom traditions revere breath as a metaphor for life, or even as life itself. One method for grasping human mystery is simply to breathe.

How can machines learn to breathe? Our practice-based workshop centers on this question, challenging participants to teach an AI agent how to breathe. If breath is central to human experience, then how can we conceive of sharing this experience? We hope that people will enquire about the limits of humanity, knowledge, and artificial intelligence (AI).

As the term “machine learning” gives away, pedagogy is central to AI. What should computers know, and how can we teach it? Yet pedagogy is also central to human identity. We become human by learning how to be human—for instance, learning how to breathe. What can breath reveal about the comparative pedagogy of AI and people?

Following Matteo Pasquinelli, our workshop surfaces questions about identity. From dinner recipes to moral codes, humans have created logical systems for millennia. Are we sure that algorithms aren’t human? Meanwhile, breathing is automatic, occurring beneath consciousness and resembling a metronome. Are we sure that humans aren’t algorithms?

Our workshop centers on this challenge: “You encounter an AI agent with advanced powers of reasoning. How can you teach this agent how to breathe?” We will split participants into creative pods, sharing work at the end.

A looming question: what is unteachable? Some may find clever ways to communicate with AI; others may feel lost. In all cases, we hope to push people toward that strange clearing where the sacred, human, and algorithmic meet.

১৯৭১ এর বর্বর পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনীর থেকে মাতৃভূমিকে রক্ষার জন্যে প্রাণ দেন ৩০ লক্ষ মানুষ। তাদের সেই প্রাণের বিনিময়েই আমরা পেয়েছি আজকের এ দিন।

বিজয় দিবসে শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মরণ করছি সেই সকল শহীদ দের যাদের আত্মত্যাগের মাধম্যে অর্জিত হয়েছে স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশ।

মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পরাজয় নিশ্চিত জেনে পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী বাঙ্গালী জাতিকে মেধাশুন্য করার পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে যে হত্যাযজ্ঞ চালায় তা বাঙালি জাতির ইতিহাসে এক কালো অধ্যায় হয়ে থাকবে। এদিন বাঙ্গালি হারিয়েছে দেশের মেরুদন্ড, দেশের শক্তি, দেশের আলো।

তবে শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের রেখে যাওয়া আদর্শ ও পথকে অনুসরণ করে একটি অসাম্প্রদায়িক ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনাভিত্তিক সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ সোনার বাংলা গড়তে পারলেই তাঁদের আত্মত্যাগ সার্থক হবে।

Firefox at AIUB দুঃখ ভারাক্রান্ত মন নিয়ে আজ স্মরণ করে সেই বুদ্ধিজীবী হত্যার ৫২ বছর এবং শপথ করছি তাদের ত্যাগ আমরা গৌরবে গড়ে তুলবো।

On November 19, the Firefox community established a virtual orientation to promote connections between the current committee and our alumni. Since the majority of our senior alumni are now residing in foreign countries, we have organized an online reunion to deepen our connection with them.

Following the introduction, seniors shared their insights and experiences. To make the new bees feel welcome and help them learn.One topic that came up often was the community's support of everyone in the session.The Mozilla hub that was created as a consequence of this meeting was well-liked by everybody.

It was also underlined how the Firefox community strives to defend online privacy since we are living in the information age. The Firefox Fest, Design UI, Bugzilla, and the Firefox OS were also discussed.
