Victoria’s Skilled Migration Program is now open to new Registrations of Interests (ROI) with major changes to the eligibility criteria for a State Nomination from Victoria for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Regional (subclass 491) visa.

Main changes from 2021-2022 program:

Offshore applicants eligible to apply
No requirements for onshore applicants to be using STEMM skills or working in a target sector
Onshore applicants must be employed and working in Victoria
All occupations that are on the eligible skilled occupation list are being considered
This immigration year, applicants are still required to submit a Registration of Interest. Applicants that submitted ROIs in the 2021-2022 migration year that have not yet been selected will be required to resubmit new ROIs to be considered for this year’s program.

Eligibility Criteria – SC190 & SC491

The eligibility criteria to be nominated by the Victorian state government is as follows:

You must be committed to living in Victoria
You must have had your ROI selected by the Victorian government
You must be under 45 years of age
You must have at least Competent English
You must have a valid migration skills assessment in an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list for either the 190 or 491 visa
You must achieve at least 65 points on the points test in your Expression of Interest (EOI) on SkillSelect
Additionally, if you are seeking nomination for a Skilled Regional (subclass 491) visa you must be living and working in regional Victoria in skilled employment at time of nomination. This criteria does not apply to offshore applicants.

Priority consideration

In the assessment of submitted ROIs, the Victorian State Government will give priority to the below factors:

Age
English language level
Years of experience in your nominated occupation
Education and occupation skill level
Partner’s skill (if applicable)
Salary – onshore candidates only.
The following industry sectors are currently being afforded priority in selection:

Healthcare and social services
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
Advanced manufacturing, digital and innovation economy
Chef, cook, accommodation and hospitality managers – for the 491 visa
Early childhood, secondary and special education teachers.
