🌅 That One Magical Moment in Mexico

Every trip has that moment — the one where you think, “This is it!” or “I’ve never felt this before.” For me, in Mexico, it was the sunrise on a paddleboard at the mesmerizing Lagoon of Seven Colors.

If you know me, you know mornings and I don’t get along. I skip hotel breakfasts, and waking up early on vacation? Forget it. But something about this experience called to me, and I’m so glad I gave in.

No, I didn’t see a perfect sun rising out of the water—it was foggy. But that misty, mysterious vibe? It was way more better than a bright sunrise! There was a certain magic in the stillness, the softness of the fog wrapping around me in the Lagoon!

I’ve kayaked and canoed plenty of times before, but standing and balancing on a paddleboard was a first! Just when I think a trip might not surprise me, Mother Nature always has a way of proving me wrong.

The whirling dervish dance (Sema) was founded by the Philosopher, Poet and Mystic Rūmī at Konya, Anatolia, in the 13th century. It was a bucket list for me to visit his Tomb in Konya and watch this form of Turkish dance in its origin! I can’t tell how much I love to be around animals! But being around wildlife in an ethical way is almost impossible in this world! This Elephant Sanctuary in Mondulkiri seemed pretty ethical where we could enjoy their company without much disturbance in their natural habitat. There wasn’t any modern facilities like proper electricity or signal or rooms to stay, just hammock to sleep at night and I feel there shouldn’t be more elements than these!
