Located in a charming neighbourhood in the heart of Antwerp, you will find a unique space serving as a contemporary ART GALLERY and intimate EVENT VENUE. Gallery Louiza Antwerp, a place that breaks away from the traditional notions of a gallery, fuses art with culture, entertainment and community. Created by artist Elly Kostense, an Antwerp native who lived in Asia for 30 years, the space reflects

her own oriental and new world influences. Aiming to make art accessible, the gallery invites artists from around the world to show their work, and builds a platform for creative talent within its atmospheric walls. The gallery also acts as an ideal spot to host social gatherings such as meetings, receptions and presentations within an inspiring environment. Bringing a fresh perspective to Antwerp’s artistic scene, Gallery Louiza Antwerp is a versatile setting that celebrates creativity.

Points of vieuwS in Gallery Louiza

Vandaag in GVA "Point of viewS" :

Meet the artist SANDER DU FLOO

Meet the artist WALL CHIRACHAISAKUL
Wal Chirachaisakul Born 1990 in Bangkok, Thailand
Lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand

Concept of artwork, Wal Chirachaisakul presents the struggle against confusion and the desire for liberation and independence through his works using the mezzotint print-making technique. Portraits of some people that he knows closely are an expression of his childhood environment, surrounded within an atmosphere of negativity, confusion and conflict. These are similar to the mental pollution. We were pushed towards the good and bad. Eventually, after being confined inside this environment for so long, faith in stability is lost and accepted as the norm.

Wal Chirachaisakul studied at the College of Fine Art, and graduated from faculty of Graphic Arts, Painting and Sculpture at Silpakorn University, both in Bangkok, Thailand. Wal got the first printmaking competition award in 2011 “Fourth Prize” The 8th Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints (2011). Wal also received awards from many countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Canada and Thailand etc.
Wall is showing some of his work in "Point of viewS" LOUIZA ANTWERP from Fri.25 Nov.

Meet the artist KRAISAK CHIRACHAISAKUL

Graduated from Silpakorn University Bangkok back in 1987. Winner of Gold Prize at the International Biennale Print Exhibition in Taiwan.
Kraisak’s winning piece, The Greatest Love, is an 80 x 60cm mezzotint print depicting a veritable sea of heads, a crowd of well over a thousand people waving flags to salute HM the King of Thailand.
Mezzotint is an age-old printmaking process, a child of the intaglio family, where a range of tones and fine details are produced by burnishing the surface of a metal plate, usually made of copper.
Kraisak is spending most of his waking hours working on new mezzotints. “Maybe it’s a bit like praying, don’t you think? Like when you pray and you have to say a prayer a hundred times in order to get that sense of completion. I draw heads, heads, heads... of people smiling at the King, of people at public gatherings,” he says. “It helps me cope.”
Kraisak is purely motivated by his love for printmaking. Last year, he won an award for excellence at the Awagami International Miniature Print Exhibition in Japan, as well as the grand prix at the 8th Biennale Internationale d’Estampe Contemporaine de Trois Rivieres in Canada. He also puts on a solo shows in Bangkok .
“I’m doing new work all the time now,” he says, “I’m old and I’m starting to feel like I want to leave something behind [for posterity]. I feel like I’m the only one that’s old.”

Kraisak is showing some of his work in "Point of viewS" GALLERY LOUIZA ANTWERP from Fri.25 Nov.
