Bruges is a home base for many economic growth sectors and has lots of know-how. The industrial sector in West Flanders is growing and thriving. That things are moving forward is proven by KU Leuven - Brugge with the concept factory they opened in May 2019. This mechanical engineering and mechatronics lab underscores the ambition to remain a leader in this field. Since March 2022, the city of Bruges, with the Visit Bruges Convention Bureau, has joined forces with KUL and Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre to attract meetings and conventions to Bruges.

In May, 3,200-square-meter floor slab was poured into the excavation pit of the Bruges Meeting & Convention Centre.
