Thanks to FACE Magazine.it for the article dedicated to the recently concluded edition of the Estates General of European LGBTQ+ Tourism, which highlighted that LGBTQ+ tourism in Europe is worth 55 billion euros with 67 million arrivals in 2023, an increase of 28%.

Here is the speech by Alessandra Priante – President of ENIT - Agenzia Nazionale del Turismo, who, despite not being able to attend the Estates General of European LGBTQ+ Tourism in person, provides us with a significant testimony.

ENIT was among the first to adopt the International DE&I Protocol “Queervadis” and stands with us in promoting inclusive and safe tourism. Only with guiding values and principles such as tolerance, love, and peace can tourism become a tool for changing the world 🏳️‍🌈

May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. As the ELTA - European LGBTQ+ Travel Alliance, our commitment is to work together with destinations, institutions, and tourism operators in Europe to promote increasingly inclusive tourism and seek dialogue to help those most in need.

Yesterday marked the conclusion of the second edition of the Estates General of European LGBTQ+ Tourism, an assembly that allowed industry experts to discuss DE&I themes and LGBTQ+ rights, showing how these impact tourism. It emerged that Europe is certainly one of the most welcoming destinations in the world, but in many destinations, overly strict legislation still exists, which does not guarantee equal rights for everyone.

In this case, the work of local LGBTQ+ associations has proven to be fundamental. Our commitment will be to support destinations in difficulty even more, standing by their side in the fight for a world without discrimination.
